Hello everyone!

I’m in need of replacing my “accelerator cable” or throttle cable on my 96 LX450 as the gas pedal has developed a catch/sticky point. I’m wondering if anyone has:
1) Has anyone replaced theirs?
2) Has anyone replaced theirs with an aftermarket cable?
3) Would you recommend OEM only or can I save $70 and go aftermarket?
4) Will a new accelerator cable solve my sticky/catchy pedal? (I have already tried lubing and it’s gotten progressively worse over the winter months)

Here’s the $100 OEM cable 1996 TOYOTA LAND CRUISER 4000CC Cable assy, throttle - 3552060140 | Toyota Parts Overstock, Lakeland FL

There are a number of aftermarket options online but I’m unsure if I’m wasting my time getting an aftermarket cable? If you have a recommended aftermarket option, links to order are more than welcomed!

Thanks in advanced, LC fam!

Are you sure you have the right part number? 35520-60140 looks like the kick-down cable.

For the throttle cable, jp-carparts.com shows P/N 35520-60110 "CABLE ASSY, THROTTLE" (8/92 - 1/98), superseded by 35520-60111. $42 from Amayama Japan. $43 from Partsouq. $73 from Camelback Toyota. Plus shipping for each, you'd have to compare.

You will waste your money if you don’t go to toyota for this part. So many of us have.

There isn’t a new amazing alternative on the market for a vehicle 20+ years out of production. Seriously don’t waste your time figuring out what so many of us already have.

I’ve found after owning land cruisers for over 30years that over 95% of the time you’re wasting money in the long haul if you don’t go oem Toyota from the start.

Agree with the above. Go Toyota oem on this crucial part and get another 22 years of service.

Your cruiser is only as reliable as the parts you put into it.

Thank you for all the replies above! This has been extremely helpful. Sounds like you guys saved me a world of headaches.

I definitely linked the incorrect part in my initial post, so I appreciate everyone that called out the correction. I'll definitely be purchasing an OEM cable from my local dealer.
