Anyone go from a 200 back to a 100? (1 Viewer)

I grew up in a 80 and a 100 series... I learned to drive in a 100 series... there is definitely a lot of nostalgia for me in both platforms.

That said... I sold my 100. Have an 80 and plan on getting a 200.

There's a 200 in the family and I've spent a lot of time driving it... sure its a little bigger, a little harder to see out of, but being able to go up hill above 50mph is real nice....

And that's not even mentioning anything about the 100's torsion bars :deadhorse:

Similar boat to OP. Been going through my 04 and just think it is the perfect size for my main. Been considering getting a 20/21 LX570 certified pre-owned, for The day the hundy gets retired for whatever reason. Still unsure.

To those who have had both, How does the 3rd row compare between the two series? My kids are out growing the 3rd row in the 06. Not enough leg room with seats mounted flat to floor.

IMO nothing to write home about. Can’t come close to minivan and taking space in a trunk. In 570 I took one out and keep one just in case. Rarely used, wouldn’t want to use it often. Maybe 200 little bigger but nah

You need a van. I have 80, 100, 200 and a Sienna van. And If I need room and also easier access ( auto sliding door and low ground clearance ) for kids, I will take the Sienna over my LCs all day. The room in the Sienna is incredible! 100 and 200 3rd row about the same.

From my personal experience, not much difference

So, they take up the same space in the garage/attic?

I have a 2021 Heritage but kept the 2003 LC I've had since it was new. The 200 is my daily driver and is much more comfortable, especially for long trips on freeways. I also pull a boat up to our family cabin in the mountains which includes several 13-16% grades and there is no comparison between the 200 and the 100. That 5.7 just yanks it up the hills without straining where the 100 is in low gear winding up at 20 mph.

I agree with others that the 100 feels more connected to the road and has a better seating position for visibility which is why I've kept it for off roading. My ride comfort in the 100 may be a bit less now that it has a small lift and 33" KO2's so it may make the comparison to the 200 a bit skewed. I still drive the 100 around town and to work once in a while. 225,000 miles and still runs great.

Thanks for reply’s on the 3rd row. Really don’t want a sienna. We live way out in the sticks on rough roads. Not to mention the ice in snow in winter. Anyone know how the 3rd row in a 2008+ sequoia compares?

The third row in the sequoia definitely is more spacious when comparing my mom's 200 with my sequoia. Again, I don't think it's minivan level, but for a three row suv that isn't a suburban/yukon xl, I think it's done pretty well. However, when you put the third row up, you lose a lot of cargo space.

My wife drives a 2014 Sequoia - definitely more room on the 3rd than a 100 or 200.

I was comparing a VVTI 100 series versus a pre-2016 200 series, the power feels close enough. During steep climb, I do need to downshift the 100 to 4th gear, but was able to keep up with traffic with no problem. But an early 100 series (4speed) vs. a 2016+ 200 series (8speed), I'm sure the difference is more significant.

Early 100 series vs any of the 200's is significant. A dog is faster uphill than a pre VVTi 2UZ

after 100k+ miles on my 98 100, I am loving my 2013 LX. Its much better with little kids and the power is intoxicating even on 35s.

I have had the 200 for a month, I have driven in 1,000 miles while the 100 has collected dust in the driveway.

I am considering selling my built 100...
