Next I want to replace the handle and clean up the handle bore in the yoke. So far, nearly every handle for a heavy duty 4” vise measures out at 5/8” diameter and about 12” long. The Parker may need to go to 11/16”. I’ve found a few different ways of doing handles, but haven’t settled on one yet. Am also still debating on whether or not I want to change the mottled paint and iron patina.🤔

Big fan of patina and scars. Life story on display.

Had this. Soaked it in diesel and greased it. My go to tool for tie-rod removal.

I made a “speed handle” for my big ol’ Wilton. Drilled and tapped for a set screw to hold handle. Frees up some interference from under the bench and no long have 12 pounds of steel swinging close to “the boys”.

Boys will be spared, but leverage be damned... :)

Falling more and more in lust with the post -Athol Starrett’s. Well, I should say Starretts in general.

it has a nice swivel lock handle system

@RUSH55 A couple things Athol and Starrett do better than others are the added iron on top of the static and the lower jaw support. Both are WAY overbuilt and make them tank-like in their toughness.

^ says he, while showing an 80 in the background...! Indeed!

So glad you could snag it! That is all you’ll EVER need and will be in your family for a long long time. It’s rare to know you are buying something you will NEVER have to replace.

@RUSH55 I remember @bhsdriller chiming in on that a while back. May have to roll the tape back and check.
