Looks like I'm SOL for a couple of weeks, the wheel bearing kits at @cruiseroutfit are waiting on some parts before being restocked. I guess that gives me time to do some other stuff. That's what I get for trying to reuse parts all the time!

Which wheel bearing kit are you after? I suspect I can make something happen :D

Understood... Now to find someone that wants to drink🍺🍺 🍻 and give directions (good ones), that isn't my :princess:... in NoCO... lol

You best wait till after the wrenching dust settles for :beer::beer:. Somebodys got'ta stay on their feet long enough to tell the story..

Kurt, I'm looking for the 75-90 front axle wheel bearings, Koyo.

I already have the oil seal, just need the wheel bearings. ;)

Unfortunately last time I bought the front axle rebuild kit from you guys I didn't think I needed bearings.

What color will it be this accidental go-round?

That's easy. Call and speak with Jason. We have hundreds of bearings in stock :D

Will do! I talked with a youngster this morning who said y'all had bearings, just not the oil seal for the kit, I tried to get him to just send me the bearings!

I figured no big deal, it will all work out in the end.

Thank you!

We don't have loose bearings in our system to sell outside of kits, just not something we've ever loaded so whomever you spoke with is correct. However, Jason is our sales manager and can do them as a special entry for you.

No worries at all, I understand 100%.

Done!

Big shout out to @cruiseroutfit and crew, they definitely went above and beyond to help out and get some parts in the mail!

Might even have one of the infamous "Jeeps are s***" stickers coming!

Thanks again!

Anyone know how tight the tolerance should be here?

I can get a .0015 feeler under there but not a .002. I'm wondering if I may have some problems here. This is also the side that looked like the wheel bearings had spun.

Should the inner races be tight on there?

Should I tack the inner race in place and chuck a for sale sign in the window?

inquiring minds want to know.

Very nice pics CPT Ryan. Extremely helpful. Most folks are visual learners. This is the type of visualization that is worth a chapter in the FM....

The loose clearance of the caged bearing isn't as important as the assembled clearance against both races which you can control by feel, right?
The more I think about it I lean towards just that.

The shoulder of the inner race is tensioned by the shoulder on the spindle, all held by the tension by the outer bearing and the washer/axle nut torque.

But it still seems just a little too loose IMO, or maybe I'm just overthinking it all together.

I wouldn't want much if any clearance. Is it possible there is some taper on the shaft?

Someone mentioned that to me this morning, I don't think there was, but I'm not going to wager the homestead on that.

Pics, because I know we all like pics.

Shot some black gloss on the rack.

Dropped some hardware in the ultrasonic cleaner at work today, was not disappointed.

Started to prep the other knuckle for measurements and reassembly.

Polished up the ball.

Set the outer races.

Installed the pointer for the centering tool.
