PO installed some kind of hose (not OEM) and it actually looks like it could collapse with suction. Thoughts on what to use as replacement of just quit being a cheap a** and buy new?

-thanks

New .

i used one of the aluminium intake pipes from a 7.3 ford and cut it to fit.

I acquired an EMS Powered pipe when I got my exhaust. Not sure if they can be sourced now or not.

I got all the tubing from advanced, A 45 deg and straight, Used the OEM coupler on the air filt MAF end. i also had to raise the two front mounting legs on the air filter housing to line up the housing to the intake. I just used some Energy suspension sway bar link bushings (red) and longer bolts.

Definitely not! EMS is no longer. I ordered one of the intake tubes from them on June 1 and still haven't received it. The only upside is I wasn't out any $. I had a gift certificate I won from them that I tried to use.

On the 92 I used a 5" (as I recall) turbo silicone hose. I just angle cut the ends to fit.

Just get the OEM Toyota part, makes no sense not to.

did you have to photoshop in the sparkle? :flipoff2: Looks nice

Why would you put a rigid piece piece of pipe between the top of the engine and the air cleaner bolted to the fender? The engine moves under acceleration and engine braking, the rigid pipe should break the mounts off the air cleaner or something else will give.

You still have flex between the rubber connector hose

Get a quote from CDan or Beno. Mine split 2 weeks ago and threw a check engine code for running lean. My local dealer had 1 in stock and they discounted it for me. Still cost me about $90 bucks.

But if you don't get the OEM unit, you will have bad gas mileage and no power, oh wait, thats already the case.

Hi All,

Haven't been on the forum for a while. Well, the air intake hose finally gave way on my LC. Searched for a few inexpensive options, so I'm try my luck on fabricating one. A few visits and rummaging through a few friend's shops(m

otorsport & muffler shops), and this is what's come about so far. I'm going to do a mock-up for final sizing later tonight or tomorrow morning. I will let you know how it works out.

Not to mention use metal that will get hot and increase your IAT. Even though it's after the maf the exhaust mani and engine will heat soak the part.

Grab that OEM hose. It's so ludicrously flexible and heavy, it just feels like a big, high-quality piece of rubber. Can't go wrong with OEM. Ours lasted roughly 17 years or so, coming out to 41 cents per month. We spent 85 dollars on it.
