Hand built by the owner circa 1976. No power, water is via hand dug collection system and three gravity feed tanks totaling 16k gallons. Hot and cold running water, real toilets. There is a tiny solar system added later to power cell phone amplifier and charge phones.

Splitting those old chestnut rails was a ton of work. Only were able to find dead trees for 200 rails. It is at 3,100' on the Allegheny Front and the winter weather features wind, snow and fairly low temps. The reliability of the Land Cruiser was essential to the place and part of his "winter" entertainment was helping ill-equipped stranded drivers.

That is a treasure to be valued more than any house in town. The soul yearns for solitude and tranquility that can only be attained via places like this, which are getting harder and harder to find.
