If you’re going to install Depos, highly suggest taking the extra step to load them with HID’s. Bought mine from the Retrofit Source. Couldn’t be happier with the huge improvement in light. The beam cutoff helps out drivers coming your way.

Haha! I have Duratracs on mine and love them. If you asked me what I like about them I’d mention how quite and smooth they are. That said the Duratracs are the least aggressive tire I have ever owned, so maybe it is just a matter of perspective.![]()

Is there supposed to be an o-ring on the back of the MC? Did your rebuild kit come with one?Time for some Cruiser maintenance. I've never been very happy with the brakes, they have always lacked power and felt soft. So time to go through the system and get it up to spec.
First, a master cylinder rebuild.

The original 27 y/o master is not leaking or showing any obvious sign of needing work, but with that age and over 360K miles, I figure the seals could be less than ideal.
The rebuild is surprisingly easy and well documented in the FSM. The OEM rebuild kit includes all new seals, washers, stop plug and c-clip. You also need some rubber grease, and two new grommets for the reservoir. If you want it to look like new when you are done, you probably also want to replace the reservoir, it's very hard to clean out. I cleaned mine out, but it's not as good as I'd like it to be.

With the old internals on the right, you can see that the old springs have weakened over time. The seals were definitely loose and free compared to the new ones, so it should at least be good for another couple hundred thousand miles.
Now, with OEM caliper rebuild kit in hand, I thought I'd try some new OEM pads and shims (sold separately). Oem pads have L and R pads with squeakers built into all four pads, and the shim kit includes some goo to apply on things. I disassembled the calipers.

Cleaned them up, masked them for paint. Then re-assemble with all the new seals and boots. Probably need to replace the slide pins next time I do this, they are getting somewhat notched with wear. Some very minor pitting in the calipers as well, if this gets worse, may need to retire these castings and find some new ones.

Rebuilt parts all laid out. Next up will be bench bleeding the master before installation.
No there is nothing there and nothing depicted in the parts diagram. there is a gasket with the bolt pattern shape on it, part number 47275-24010, but it was not included in the kit, and mine is still stuck on the brake booster, so I'll just re-use it.Is there supposed to be an o-ring on the back of the MC? I just replaced mine and didn’t even notice. Just mounted it View attachment 3733526
