Now that my rebuild is complete and I'm finally driving the cruiser, it's back to the regular build thread.
1FZ-FE Rebuild full overhaul - picture heavy
I've put 500 miles on it and have been prioritizing my list of things to do. First up is replacing the damaged/bent front bumper. I ordered a bumper from Costa Fabrications
@RDC76 and I can't wait to get it!
Next up is to do something about the janky interior. I ordered a carpet kit from stockinteriors.com and received it a couple of months ago. That will be going in shortly. The front seats are getting lseat.com leathers along with some new custom cut foam and aftermarket seat heat pads. The seats are currently very hard and ugly, and uncomfortable to sit on for more than 20 minutes. The seats should happen in the next 3-4 weeks.
I bought extra leather and vinyl material from lseat.com and 4 trashed door cards from an LX450 out of a scrap yard that match my 40th version. Took them to Mexico today with the materials to have them redone and made new, including new backing boards with real plywood instead of the particle board crap. They are basically making me brand new door cards with the used set as a template/pattern. I'll save my 40th door cards in the shed in case I ever want to go back to stock.
The automatic transmission is making me insane. It's really poorly programmed, hunts going up hills in typical slush-box fashion, give it a bit of gas to maintain speed and it shifts down, let off a bit to maintain speed and it shifts up. I hate automatics. With a vehicle that doesn't have a ton of power, having very little control of the power delivery really amplifies the weight of the vehicle and lack of power. If you've got 400 horse power I suppose it wouldn't matter that much, but the auto is really spoiling the driving experience. So
@FloridaFJ80 to the rescue! He's sourcing an H151F and some other bits for me in Columbia! Gonna have me a five speed folks.
More to come, but I'm excited to get started on the fun stuff!
