This picture cracks me up. The 3 main tools on your workbench are must haves to work on the 80 series:
1. Hatchet
2. Torch
3. Sawzall
Only thing missing is a 6 foot long pry bar.

It was currently being used...with a cheater bar on top of it

How does your dad open up his hood with that front bumper?

What do you mean by BS? and the side has pins that pull out to open the hood. Not much protection from a roll but it has served its purpose many times leaning up against pesky tight obstacles.

Just for funzzies this is what I got rid of for the new project. 2001 Xj, 1 ton axles, ARB lockers front and rear, 2.5 gal air tank, 8" long arm lift, Hydraulic assist steering, 37's Custom bumpers, tube flares and sliders, Clarion sound system with 12'' sub.

Would do the swap for an FZJ again without even hesitating.

The tow rig "Tug" is a 05 Cummins with Bully Dog chip and tranny work done to support my speeding habits when pulling up hill.

This was the last trip to Moab. Did Hells gate. I pooped a little here. We were lucky to not go all the way over. Rear passenger tire slipped down the wall and about launched us. GOOD TIMES!!!

Next project is moving the AC dryer in a not so terrible location(That was the worst thing LC ever did to these things) and making my front bumper. Using Andrew Pounder's design as a start. Find him on the Gram

When you said you took your headlights apart, and painted the back plate flat black how did you do it? Can you take a closeup of a front light? I'd like to change the front lights up also.... thanks!

Okay, so get on youtube and look up how to separate head lights. It involves an oven and new sealer gasket. You can buy it at any hardware store. I taped the concave portion of the lights and painted the rest with a rattle can. The pic above lets you see them. It is subtle but separates the high and low beam enough I liked it. Cheaper than buying new ones.

Got my bumper design back from Critical Laser in Pleasant Grove Ut. Now for fit test.

All welded up and painted. Drilling holes and looking for any dislike contact points. Planning on putting a winch in there at some point this year

I am working on pulling the steering gear box to tap it and instal hydro assist. I'll post pics as we go. Probably will be over a few days

So here is the main reason behind the Hydro assist. I bent my sector shaft out wheeling and they are about $300 plus all the time to pull it. My hydro parts were $308 right now and hat includes the bigger cooler. Didn’t feel like replacing a part just for it to break again.

Here were the tools I used to get the box out. Heavy emphasis on the lube and torch. Rust sucks.

The box is out and soaking in PB blaster and ATF because from here on out I can’t strip any bolts. No pressure. I will be using the thread on Marlin crawler for the drilling instructions.

Update: Got the sector shaft out no problem. Then it all went to pot. stripped the 10mm centering spring head. The other 4 bolts that hold the piston don't want to budge. I will be attempting to weld a bolt into my now circular alan bolt head and hopefully that gets it. As far as the other 4 I am going to use a bigger impact gun. Will know in about an hour if it worked.
