Well, this is going down now. 2006 6.0 Vortec. It has a spun bearing so we will rebuild it, spice up the cam and a few other things. It will be mated up with a L480 tranny. Should be right around 450hp to the wheels. We will see how long stock drivetrain components last with this transplant.

Found one of the issues. Just In case you are wondering, push rods are all supposed to be straight. Top is normal, bottom is obviously a capitol P for problem

Nice man! My 80’s planned focus is pretty similar. Go back forth on the ls though. What r u planning for t case and then r u going to try a beef up the axles any before going to tons?

T case will be the yota one. Advanced adapters makes one to mate with the L480. As for axles, I’m just going to buy chromoly shafts and replace as needed. From everything I’ve read, the 80s axles with chromoly shafts are every bit as strong as the one tons. That is unless the tons are worked on as well. This isn’t a KOH rig so as long as I stay controlled on my skinny pedal, I should be alright.

It was a awesome bare bone minimalist build going on there.... Js, Ls, 37s and some tubing.
Now its getting interesting.
Im a little jealous of the v8 since I live in Cali. Smog reasons.

Update on the build…. I got a 2006 LQ4 with a bad push rod…fast forward to leaving the motor at a machine shops that specializes in race motors, the only stock parts in the motor are the rocker arms. Lol. Looking at about 550hp at the flywheel. I know, I am screwed past my transfer case. Luckily I’m not 18 anymore and have control of the throttle.

As of now, I am going to run the stupid high hp motor with an 4L80e from monster transmission. I have an advanced adapters gm to yota adapter. I will run a Holley Terminator X computer with a touchscreen dash and avoid the whole wiring harness mess. Am in the process of assembling the motor with remote instruction from a former gm R&D motor builder. We have a trip in November so it will* be done by then.

All them expensive parts on a table just laughing at me because I have no idea what I’m actually getting into
