I got T-Boned by some stupid B!£€h, took out the left side of my 80 with a Hyundai. Turned left into my side. Just recently did the dipped finish, Not sure if insurance is gonna lowball total it since its old, (96 with 177k mi.) Which we know is nothing for an 80.

Worst thing is the rear wheel got the brunt of the force which spun me 90 degrees. I'm more worried about the wheel / axle / suspension not the plastic or even the bodywork. How fixable is this? Could there be frame damage?

Rear Wheel shoved back and counter clockwise

sorry that this happened. I'd say its a good candidate to be fixed, but the insurance company will probably total it out. Best case scenario, you have a bent axle housing, and may just need to swap in a good used rear axle.

Thanks excessive, I really hope I can save it, This truck has been good to me for so many years. A few more pics

looks like the control arms are bent too. If you are lucky, your housing won't be bent, but most likely you'll need a complete axle assembly along with the control arms and the body work. I'd say that it is a safe bet to be totaled--body work adds up quickly.

I agree with the posts above. Maybe use the buy back option and use the rest of the payoff to have it repaired.

If all the problem it's the rear axle .. then there is no mayor problem .. just replace it .. but gotta check your frame, and control arm frame mounts

how it's the hyundai ?

Here's a pic of the Hyundai thru my newly tinted Viper Ceramic film, not even 24 hrs since install. :bang:

Definitely totalled. That's OK, take the money and repair accordingly. I have come out on top financially both times my vehicle was totalled by insurance.

And I just bought a replacement taillight on eBay cuz I couldn't live with the small cracked lens i had, this truck was nearly baseline perfection! Good thing I didn't order the Leather Kit I had my eyes on. :crybaby:

But I appreciate the support here, only a Landcruiser owner would understand. Emotionally attached / damaged? Hell Yes.

Im so sorry buddy! I have my fingers crossed that the damage is not to extensive. I have a small hoard of 80 series misc parts and I live in Henderson so hit me up if you end up needing to source some stuff or need a hand putting her back together.

Thanks for the support Rick, I expect to hear from my claims adjuster next week.

as someone who just had the same thing happen less than 3 weeks ago... its a total loss. state farm said the cost to replace my rear axle and the quarter panel was over 5 grand. he stopped there and didnt even get into paint or putting it on a frame machine. we are still trying to come up with a price we all agree on so i have no help for you there.

Buy it back and get it repaired your self, it doesn't look that bad I love my 80 and if if happens to me I'll do the same .
What would you buy with the measly amount the insurance comes back with ??
All the insurance company's care about is their own arse .
If it makes you feel better that Hyundai is rooted , we repaired one last year with identical damage and it was very close to a write off

I had this happen to my 80 series. My IPOR rear bumper really saved my truck. When I was at the body shop for repairs I pulled one of the guys aside and mentioned not wanting a salvaged title. He said no problem and worked w/ me. Mine wasn't quite as bad as yours but they definitely would have totaled it being a 20+ year old vehicle.

+1 on the buy back - sorry to hear your rig got smacked - looks like the lil Hyundai came out the worse in this one - lol -
