It's ugly! For the right price I guess this could be your winter car, the one that continues to get driven on salted roads. It probably has several good years left. How often do you see an original radiator on a '95?

It’s BAD !!
Surprised you had to ask !!

Run Forest run 🏃🏻‍♂️➡️

Needs more oil leaks.

IDK, I'd say it's right up there.

As probably the third worst I've seen of all time.

Offer $100, drive it home, and buy another truck with another frame with a good body on it.

Haha these are the replies I was expecting to hear guys. Yeah I know it’s bad. My neighbor was selling this thing a while back. I was actually shocked how clean the body was. No rocker panel rust, only had a couple rust bubbles on the hood and rear hatch.

Not even sure what he sold it for. It’s a grim reminder what Illinois winters can do to a car. If that thing was owned by a doctor in Arizona, it would be a Bring a Trailer car, but instead it was owned by a doctor in Illinois and that’s what these winters do to Toyota out here.

The truck is already sold ? and you’re asking how bad is this and you know it bad 🤷‍♂️
I’m always amazed that these questions are aloud in tech then we get ones that are totally irrelevant. 🧐

In all fairness I was simply asking what the others thought of the rust situation? Would you prefer we just don’t make any threads? Let the forum die?

You might think that body looks rust free, but it's probably more expensive to repair than the frame once you factor in proper painting. The rear brake lines are about to burst, and it won't be long until the rear sway bar rips off the axle housing.

I apologize if I sounded harsh 🤪
1) The rust was bad but I played along anyway.
2) It appears that you knew it was BAD
3) If the truck was sold what did it matter?
4) The same question is asked about once a week
5) With 1.8 million posts I don’t think 80 series tech forum is dying anytime soon.
6) I don’t know other than if you have to ask it’s probably to bad.
7) If your asking me post away, I always try to be helpful weather I think it’s a legitimate question or not😎
Carry on

I've never seen a 93+ FZJ80 with a steel spare. Is this a poverty pack that something put a set of alloys on?

I mean I see why you’re upset BUT hear me out man. I wanted to see how bad YOU guys thought this was? This is far from bad in illinois. I never said I wanted to buy it. It wasn’t even for sale when I took these pics, guy was gonna keep it and build it out but plans changed.

If you wanna see actual bad rust I can gladly sift through my phone and post a couple pics that would annihilate this 80 in the rust category, they would make this look like a show room example haha.

To be clear I’m not upset.

It all relevant on the west coast that’s bad.

Sall good man

Not a poverty pack ;)

@Kabanstva : do you (or does anyone) have more photos showing rust on an 80 Series body, or other photos just as bad?

Maybe put them all in one place (thread)??

gross
that paint's hiding some shiit too

I don’t think I have any showing body rust. The problem is, 80s are nonexistent out here pretty much. I maybe see 2-3 per year driving around. That’s it. I don’t know if they just didn’t sell many of them in Illinois or if they’re all just sitting and rotting away at junk yards.

Here are a couple pics of a 2004 100-Series undercarriage that I test drove back in 2020. Also low mile Chicago car. I think this was MUCH worse than the 1995 80-Series I posted in this thread. Miraculously it drove amazing, like flawless.

150k mile car that dealer was asking $17k for. The upper hatch was so rusted and far gone we couldn’t even open it or close it, the area that had the handle was rotted away, completely gone. You be the judge. Look at that frame….look at the inner quarter panel area behind the rear wheels. All gone.

Couple more of the same 2004 LX470. Keep in mind this was back in 2020. Who knows how much worse it’s gotten after five more winters.
