Have you learned nothing after my own turmoil?

Ya know....

I had one thread deleted, wherein I posted a pic of a scantily, but fully clothed, Miss Clause.

For that, I can see merit, I guess, even though it'd have played out in the Land of Sunshine and Unicorns, being FJCF and was, by no means, dirty.

Had another thread deleted in Chat, probably by a Ford lover (hmmm...wonder who dat be?) because I titled it "WTT: POS Ford".

The reason given was, I really wasn't interested in trading anything so it was improperly titled. The deletion occurred a few days and many posts in, oddly enough, and was riddled with dry, sarcastic humor. (The other POS Ford thread by the transporter of your gifted 60 has since been deleted, too. WTF? They're Fords! Who cares enough to delete the threads?)

Now, I could see it in Classifieds, but it was in CHAT, where inflammatory humor is the norm, but someone's panties were in a bind because I cussed a Ford, even though this is a Toyota forum.

Beyond me. Guess this one will be next, even though it's full of pertinent, cutting edge 80 tech.

BTW, what is rust? I guess I need to Google that

Hahaha.

Hey, the CA rusts starts at the top and works it's way down, where ours starts underneath and works it's way up.

The best combo to potentially repair a crusty shell is to find one from each environment.

Yeah sand that down and get something one it

Have been planning on addressing the craptastic welded holes for some time, since I'm going to paint instead of liner.

Figured I'd blast them back down to the bare metal, just around the welded area, and prime in advance of a trip to body man.

Now, I'm thinking it'd be better to pull all, mask, blast, and start from there with the body left on.

Should expose any other rust, can get a good coat that should last until the future frame off, be it me, my kids, or some unsuspecting idiot twenty five years from now who'll be doing to this what I am to the 41 year old Pig.

Probably swap to clear front and rear glass, along with solid cargo glass at the same time, since I've got all the weather stripping, door sills, heck even a sunroof in the hoard already.

I wish I had not used the sound mat on the interior door skins. Had I known then what I know now, I'd have blasted, epoxy primed, coated with Lizard Skin ceramic, then deadener, in an attempt to keep them solid and rust free for eternity.

. . . rust free for eternity.

doesn't exist - even on a DeLorean

on the other hand, if you had a non-steel frame for a Trabi, you'd be in business :hillbilly:

sorry, Chris, for the hijack - back to your regular programming

Well, longer than I'd have to ever worry about it, hopefully.

If legacy implications are a possibility, would like mine to be long term rust abatement...can see the epitaph "He hated rust...."

Lay awake last nigh for other reasons, but it's in the wee hours of the morn that I appreciate the thought processes the restoration on one, resto-mod on another, and ongoing changes to the 80 afford. Better to think about the LCs than real works chit any day.

Anyhow, as I wasn't sleeping, was really regretting the matting utilized on the inside of the doors. May pull a panel, cut out around where the welded holes are to inspect for rust. It was primered well, but just want to see.

T'is a rockcrawler, right? Rockcrawlers cut stuff off...

Yeah, but not a beater....if that's even possible.

I've grown accustomed to the half assed paint job, so not authentic concern, but for the small spots to be visible on a flat portion of the upper hatch, makes me think it's hiding in other areas I can't see.

Woot woot!!!!! Post 10k!!!! Congrats bro!!!!

Yeah, congrats, Bro.

Bahaha.

(Finnyfarm60, she ain't a bro. Hahaha)

Edited: guess she cleared that up already. Haha. .

No good deed goes unpunished...
Thats what I get for thinking Claudia was the name of her rig!

How's your title coming along??

No good deed goes unpunished...

Claudia's a good sport.

Mr. DSRTRDR, (ChaseTruck) on the other hand, is apt to hold a grudge.

Bahahaha.

How's your title coming along??

Funny you should ask.

The entire process was recently deemed null and void, due to a discrepancy between the CA VIN on CA title, as discovered upon OK DMVs VIN inspection.

CA does not recognize a "-" in a VIN and replaces with a "0" to compensate for the missing digit.

OK does recognize a "-", does not accept a "0" as a substitute for a "-".

OK will not allow a "correction" due to the nature of the transfer.

So, I'm forces to start over, perusing another avenue afforded by OK law, since the CA title utilized during the previous proceedings does not match the VIN in the eyes of OK.

Oddly, the registration and tag they issued in advance of VIN inspection, a common practice in OK, are still valid and the title is listed as "on hold" which is part of the aforementioned common practice. They'll register and tag, but title issuance is contingent upon VIN inspection....which I failed.

I will not tempt fate by driving, even though it's legally registered and has been insured from day one, since there's an off chance that it could be impounded and, without a title in hand, no means to retrieve. Can't foresee a circumstance that an event necessitating impoundment would arise, but in prudence, she'll remain penned in her Sty, until 100% legit.

Initial estimates are an additional 3-4 months to rectify the situation.

Let this serve as a warning to anyone in any state with similar VIN matching requirements. If buying from a state that substitutes "0" for "-" to fulfill a minimum character requirement and titling in a state that does not share similar, it'd be worth it to consider all options before the transaction.

If the seller had provided a clear title, as he was supposed to do, it would have been a matter of a correction on the newly issued OK, which is still a 1-2 month process.

Yeah, I figured she's a good sport.... Glad I could provide some comedy relief!

I left you a VM on your cell and a pm regarding your title when you had posted the current status.....

I left you a VM on your cell....

I have conveniently forgotten the password for voicemail. :)

Yes, I realize a text from AT&T away, but that would spoil the story for the real world....

I live on this iPhone. While I'm appreciative for technology and all that it affords, I'd give it all up for a simple, old school pager and a cup holder full of quarters.

Apologies I missed. Will try to determine which number and store, so I'll know next time.

No worries.
