I hope that ins't in response to my level of stupidity. lol. I told myself I was not going to do it. I was going to leave it to someone else to do it. BUT I suck at waiting. :meh:

SO this is an aftermarket Nissan GT-R racing rotor. 380mmx34mm. The stock rotor is 311.4mm so moving to a 380mm rotor should gain more that a 22% increase in swept area.

I should be able to space the caliper out 34.3mm, and by using the same caliper I don't run into any issues with having the caliper mismatch the master cylinder. I can also fit the more aggressive EBC yellow pads and I am pretty sure it should stop. ha.

I am also considering pulling all of the ABS and load balancing and just using a manual proportioning valve.

Stock size.

Isn't there a big leverage advantage by the larger diameter as well as the swept area gain?

Yes absolutely, but since force is also directly proportional to size, it is the same gain in leverage. So all things being equal you should see a 22% increase in braking torque but really the big advantage is more heat dissipating capability. Better heat shedding allows more aggressive pads (even better braking), allows harder breaking (again increasing braking) and less warping.

Torque = Force x distance

I would expect it to make quite a difference. These are even larger than the big Tundra brakes that were all the rage when the Tundra came out touting the largest brakes in the full-size truck category.

I have a small request. While @jcardona1 's build thread makes my pants tight this turbo thread has me actively looking for

Would you mind editing your post on page one to link to the parts you're using? Or creating some kind of parts list? My current motor has over 300k on the clock and I want to do a twin-turbo setup when it comes time for a rebuild. Who knows, maybe you can get some affiliate love out of it from suppliers.

I will look later, but thought he made a general setup list in another thread.

I will certainly go back and put together a better list of the parts and things I am using, it is an ever evolving list as things kind of trickle in and I reveal them.

But the parts in this thread are not entirely directly applicable to most Land Cruiser turbo setups. For example the turbo is not one I would recommend to anyone looking to turbo their offroad 80. But my other thread on my silver truck I feel that is a very appropriate setup for anyone.

I know kind of ridiculous to even host this on mud since 99.9% of mud is dedicated to evolving Land Cruisers into more offroad intended trucks, but I thought this would be at least interesting if not humorous to some of the 80's guys.

I don't know; I think this type of project is great for baja type builds. My brother keeps looking at an '89 fj62 but passes it up because he can't figure how to do a pre-runner setup for baja trips.

Hmmm I maybe inclined to agree with your brother. If I was doing a prerunner the 60 series probably wouldn't be my first choice. It would really depend on what I needed I guess. If you wanted a full body SUV that you could run some baja trails and sleep in, I might even look at the 4runner. My favorite body style is the one up to 2002.

I would run fiberglass fenders, a long travel suspension and swap the 3.0 or 3.4L out for the 4.0L 1UZFE hopped up a little, swap in a 9" in a fabricated housing, with 33s and haul ass! lol.

Not to get off topic but I'm not a fan of those FG fenders at all!

Haha that was just a pic pulled off google typing in 4Runner fiberglass fenders just to get my point across ;)

Dyson ain't got s*** on those two snails. Talk about suction!

Haha just because I love crazy numbers. Those two turbos are sucking in about 3250 cubic feet a minute. Lol

I got a couple buddies that use the run close to 1600hp on their old foxbody mustangs. The custom fab work to make those manifolds are incredible, not to mention the detail to make them look like pieces of art that just blow hot air, lol.

Yeah, the guy really is very talented. I know I said it earlier in this thread and in my other build but I feel very fortunate that he was the one to work on my old junk Land Cruisers! As a fabricator building manifolds for a 400-500hp 20 year old truck when you have customers lined up with new Vipers, Lamborghinis, Supras, etc is not the most exciting but I appreciate that every job he does is perfection and he won't rush or cut corners just because it is a 20 year old truck that I only paid $6k for. lol. He is a true craftsmen and I appreciate that. It is becoming harder and harder to find!!

Keep the ideas flowing, I love the fact that you stepped away from the usual builds and are trying something different. Just don't lose your mind along the way... maybe it's already too late, lol

Truly a thing of beauty, a craftsman well worth waiting for. That is just gear head porn at it's finest.

I too am liking this build, I am looking forward to seeing what rolls out of your shop.

There was an 80 series prerunner build on here sometime back (and pirate) where the guy split the body into 3 pieces and had done some nice suspension work...then was trying to sell it, some food for the prerunner crowd.

This one?? Lol.
