I thought about the stroker kits, but as it sits the stroke length to rod length is right on the edge with the stock motor, once you add another 10mm of stroke and a shorter rod it gets even worse.

There have been lots of issues with Brian Crower stuff. Crower I guess is his dad and has a good rep but the Brian Crower stuff has a storied past.

Sounds like you're doing your homework and know a lot about this topic. I'm sure you'll end up building a solid motor that won't blow up. Looking forward to seeing it.

The one thing I usually don't lack is research. lol.

Here are a few high and low points on rod length.

Effects of a longer Rod
* Less rod angularity reduces wear.
* Lower piston velocity and acceleration reduces tensile loading of the rods.
* Less ignition timing is required which resist detonation.
* Compression can be increased slightly before detonation is a problem.
* Less intake runner volume is required and high rpm breathing is improved.
* Reduces scavenging at low rpm (weaker low RPM power).
* Longer TDC dwell time. (high RPM efficency).

Effects of a shorter Rod
* Increased rod angularity increases wear.
* Increased piston velocity and acceleration increases tensile loading of the rods.
* Increases scavenging at low rpm (increased low RPM power).
* Reduced TDC dwell time. (Reduced high RPM efficiency).

Ryan has been doing this for quite a long time. Best to sit back and enjoy the ride with this thread.

:)

Subscribed. I want one too, can you just double everything? This would be a good time for the 5 speed auto!

5 speed auto won't hold the power and there is no billet pieces like there are with the 340 series because of the Supra. So I am not going to take the risk with this build. Who knows maybe once this one is up and driving I can look at it with my LX.

Thanks Beno, I am going to have a list of parts for you shortly. Can I buy a bare head? Does it come with the cam caps, bolts, halfmoons, etc? If you get a chance please PM me a price on the bare head and small parts if it doesn't come with them. Thanks!

I could have sent a head with you before you moved. It's came from my LX with a blown HG.

@Mr Cimarron If it is straight and you are looking to sell, I could be a buyer. I just didn't want to risk going through car-part and end up with a warped head.
No clue on the condition. The whole engine was dismantled when I bought it. It's yours if you want it.

A buddy of mine tried to get me to do this with my 40 back in 2004 when I put the LS1 in it. Squat it and make it a street demon. At the time I told him "Only an idiot would do that to a Land Cruiser!" Thanks for being that idiot! This is awesome!

How are you going to stop it? 100 Series brakes? Brembos? Parachute?

Are you going to build an interior roll cage?

Rear brakes will just get an aggressive pad and a good rotor since getting a different setup with the included drum emergency brake would be a pain. For the front rotors I am not sure if I want to mess with it. But I think it is possible to use a 2 piece setup, if you have the right hat and then use a much larger rotor like a 380mm and have a spacer made to move the caliper out and also use an aggressive pad and I think it would be fine.

The only tricky part would be having the hat machined, so not really sure if it will happen.

Truck won't get a cage, but will get harness bars.

WOW looks great, do you have more info on the forced induction & the auto upgrades you will be using ?

The forced induction setup will be a GTX4202R/GTX4294R or BW EFR 9180. Both should be good for 850hp at the motor, hoping the head work will allow lower boost to accomplish my goals. Will be A/A intercooler since there will be no big bumper or winch, etc. Injectors will be ASNU 1600's should be enough injector to allow for pump or E85. Engine management will be Haltech or Motec undecided at this point. Haltech is working well on my LX.

The auto will get the full suite of upgrades. Clutches and steels, valve body, billet 2nd sprag, etc. The video from ATF Speed shows their build or if that isn't the right one, they have another video that does.
