Slee used to offer a High Steer kit, OTT has a kit but it's not available, Sky Manufacturing has a kit for the older LC'rs, umm...

I need a new draglink/TRE's, so for a few bucks more I as looking at upgrading to a High Steer setup. Of course once lifted I would have less bump steer so the money won't go to waste with the kit.

Link does not apply to the FJ80's, pickups/4 runners...

The custom tie rods and drag links (your req length) and other components (rod ends) will all work. As for the rest of it email them. Not enough demand to be a catalog item but not so different as to be hard to pull off with their shop.

I used to have a Samuria Rock crawler that i put 80 axels in and needed to find a high steer because of the leafsprings.
The only guys that make one if OTT in BC.
but the r pretty pricy.
I just ended up building my own, but that sammy was not a daily driver .

We have the hi-steer in stock.

The kit is $595 for the arms, complete with new studs, cone washers, washers and nuts. The pic below is the old style that we did not use cone washers on all three holes. I will have updated pics as soon as the studs come in from Toyota. The hole sizes for the rod end side is 5/8". The pictures show the setup we did on the 100 SAS swap. The arms are used in a double shear setup with the stock bottom arms. It requires the bottom arms to be drilled out to 5/8".

For this to work you also need a RHD double ended steering arm. We have new units of those for $185.

being a relative newbie to 4x4ing can someone simply explain the benefits of a high steer kit to me?

Less bump steer with a lift, I have a Jeep J-20 with a 10" lift and the bump steer is HORRIBLE and am surprised that I haven't broken any TRE's. Slee, thankyou for the updates.

So yeah, raises the linkage up out of harms way and you get less bumpsteer. My truck has a pretty bent tie rod so have to replace it anyways so what better time to do upgrades... (no, not going hydro assist either as I don't plan on going to larger than 35"s)

It probably is not much use to the average 80 owner. However it allows the tie-rod in front of the axle, so straight links to the axle is easier. Also, less angle on draglinks and panhard rods make for better steering.

Options to mount hydraulic ram for hydro assist is also better.

Yes, it uses the ABS sensor hole to mount another bung. The bung welds in, so no tapping needed. Might be able to machine a non-abs one, but probably easier to get a ABS knuckle. They are not that expensive new, and there should be quite a few used ones around.

As for the average 80 owner

How about just installing the driverside bracket? Raising the drag link point and leaving the tie rod behind the axle?

Then one could make a drop mount for the upper end of the panhard rod..

Good geometry with less extreme modifcations!

you mean raise the axle side panhard mount?

not worth the hassle for a little bump steer. this highsteer mod is all about moving the rear tierod to the front. sure would make a 3-link a lit easier

Does this kit work with leaf sprung vehicles? I know it depends on how you mount your leaf springs, but a typical spring over conversion similar to the mini truck set-up. Would it work?

IIRC when I was looking into it.. Slee had a disclaimer, saying it was not for DD vehicles. Maybe slee could clarify. I do like the Idea though!

Kit will not work for a leaf sprung setup. The arms are not high enough to clear the springs. As for DD vehicle, you have to move the panhard as well, and you could have interference with the panhard and dag link. The idea behind the kit is for people doing swaps for 80 axles, or people that do three links on 80's
