75 series spring swap on my 55

The answer was "yes", all of the OME 70 springs are lift springs.

So there are no "stock" height options for the 70. They do have a few stock height options, just not for the 40,55,60 or 70. I should have added that.

Ready to rock and roll for the most part. The only thing I don't have 100% sorted out is shocks, I'm trying a couple of OME options. So far I've got all OME components for springs, shackles, bushings & u-bolts.

There are now a half dozen guys running these setups, none are using OME shocks yet though.

Give me a holler if you would like to discuss this in detail... I'm hoping to have it on my website sooner than later

Very cool that you are working to stock a OME complete Pig solution. I wonder if they would take notice and consider a 55 specific p/n?

I do not need to discuss in detail right now, it looks like my next Pig project will be body/paint.

I just want to refresh my memory and confirm - this kit will give the Pig a 2.5 inch lift?

Honestly doubt it... we'll see. We've got some other parts on our website as 'application specific' that don't receive the same notice from the manufactures. We're OK with that as I'm willing to back them up in house

Correct, we measured about 3.25" in the rear and 2.75" in the front but that was with some fairly flat stock springs so I'd guess a lower mileage spring might net at least 2.5".

OME Rear 60 series shocks (16mm pins) will bolt straight up. Length should be about right. If longer shocks are needed, there is another slightly longer option listed for an Aus ute, don't have the part # on me right now. OME Front 60 series shocks will also bolt up, but the bottom bush will need to be changed for an OMEB11 which will allow large bottom eye of the shock to fit the smaller 16mm pin. This shock will be too long for the 55, but it should still be ok for compression.

Just your original one Cool to know there are a couple more now too. So there are at least 8 that I know of.

So everyone knows John is the man behind this all coming to light. I had sent a set of 75 Series springs down to them for a truck they were building (beleive it was Jeremiah's now Greg M's right?) and John called and said "what do you think about this under a FJ55?", sure enough they were a good fit spring wise. He setup his FJ55 with them and the rest as they say is history.

John have you guys used OME shocks for these setups? I've got a few that will 'work' but neither are ideal either for length reasons or valving with the heavy pig. Would be interested to know what you've been doing.

The N42 is one we identified as an OK candidate for the rear, but on the two I've measured its not ideal length wise, though the valving would presumable work if not the light or heavy 60 options could be used. Not too sure on the N88, its only going to have ~3.5" of compression its 9.5" stroke... workable but you'd have to run some aggressive bump stops there is a non-LC application shock that we are trying to fit first. So, does anyone know what would be best for a spring over...softs would keep it lower but might cause axle wrap? Heavies would be to tall, to stiff?

How high do you want to go? I have stock 55 springs with some extra cut down leafs for load and its still kinda high. It also has pretty bad axle wrap as well, but the ride and flex is phenomenal. Personally, I think its pretty difficult to find a setup that works well without a trackbar, and I plan on getting that done as soon as I can.

Some people do custom alcans, but there are mixed opinions on those as well.

gotcha...that's what I was thinking. I'm not trying to go to high 35"s. I see some people using 63' chevs but I have those on my 4runner and have been through three sets already...about a set every wheeling season. Put those under a heavy 55 and I think they will last one wheeling trip to moab. Anyway, was hoping some came up with a lower spring from OME that would work in a SOA. Mainly cause I think the springs are good quality and I wouldn't have to replace them every year.

Yesterday I went up into the La Sal's to get some firewood. I easily had a full cord, if not more, in my M116 trailer. The load was probably 2K-3K pounds.

These springs did awesome. Still a great ride. Still incredible flex on trails. Great susp mod.

This is very surprising. If I had to guess I would have guessed that the front and rear were much closer and that the front was heavier since it has to deal with the heavy motor.

I guess that just goes to show you what shadetree mechanics would get me. LOL. Thanks for posting these! I was looking at new springs for the back of my 55 at some point.
