Turn the plate 90 degrees. I had the same problem till I used my imagination.

Tried that too. I believe it was even farther off. I let a couple of friends try it this weekend to see if it's just me. Can't get four to line up. Only two at a time.

Did you try this?

Yup. You see the adjustment slots in the main plate of the stand in your pictures? The stand that I have doesn't have them. I think that would make the difference that I need. The bolt "guides"on on this stand bottom out into each other in every pattern we've tried. Vertical and horizontal. :meh:

Solid plate.

It had me scratching my head for a minute. I did a search to look at what others have done. Found a couple of good threads on the subject. I've yet to see another stand set up like this one. I guess it's better suited to a V engine. I can't get a tall and narrow pattern either way. dunno.

I'm glad it worked out this way, because I ended up with a stronger stand. This one's rated for 1500 lb. It's another loaner from a friend-of-friend. I'm hoping he'll end up selling it to me. My buddy told me he bought four like this for $25 a piece.

Nice Job Scott cruiser is looking great man, hope to stop by there on my way down to see brother in September or October

Sorry guys. Boy, time flies! I've made a little progress since my last post.

The frame is just about ready for paint, and the body is sitting on sawhorses now.

I got sidetracked for a while by a project on my other 40 in August...and hunting season takes up most of my free time between Sept and January. Sitting in the hospital now with my new son, born yesterday. :) So..this project has been on the back burner. Should get back to the metal work in January, and hopefully start some painting when warm weather returns in the spring.

Congrats, man! Kids are way more fun than cruisers on saw horses. I am sitting here with my four year old. She is trying to convince me to paint the '40 in my avatar "pink and purple". When I dug my heels in, she started to cry.... How will I navigate this one....

Hey man, cruiser is looking good, you must have patience, way better at body work than I am, hahah!!! I also ran into the same engine stand issue when I took my F out and put the 2F in, except I had a stand that I rotated and it fit, and it only had holes(not slots) like yours, but it didn't matter anyway, as soon as I started to let the engine hoist down it bent the stand up anyway......Bahahha so my dad just has to put up with an F sitting on his floor until I get a better/Stronger stand!

PS: I'll have to send you a message the next time I'm headed your way, or try to pawn off my crazy cruiser parts collection, hahahha

time does fly...didn't you just have a daughter born awhile back? or way that several years back :hhmm:

Congrats

I know! Seems like just yesterday. She turned three in June. The wife was pregnant with her at the first ONSC spring tide ride. Wish they would slow down!

 :princess: I feel ya. My first two are girls. I've been outnumbered for a while now. Thanks!

Thanks! It's a fun project. Learning a lot. More poor than patient! Always like to meet cruiser guys. And I'm a sucker for local parts! :D

The rig has a lot of character. I look forward to the future pictures. Best of luck. Just went out to the garage to look at my 1972 Fj40. Its well worth all the effort.

Time for me to get back to work on this project. Spring is in the air! Sort of. Crazy weather lately. No school today. Sledding and Cruiser time. :bounce:

I've actually been piddling in the garage here and there for a couple of weeks now, but have been to lazy to resize pics and post up. Surgery begins....

(The wheel well is hanging by a wire, if you were wondering.)

I'm thinking about leaving the bucket seat attachment locations, and adding the ones for the bench seat...Well, because they're already there. Might be nice to have the option to swap. Dunno. Could be a little tricky with the nut support brackets. We'll see I guess. Could someone remind me of the purpose of the two small phillips screws?
