Definitely live and learn.@CruiserTrash View attachment 3216305View attachment 3216306
It was a cool old rig, and I wish it was in better condition, but there was rust all over it. Floor pans were shot, exterior had holes everywhere, but most damning was that the frame was beyond repair. I've since replaced it with an FJ62 and an HJ60, though, so I've got some cool 60s now, and both are in solid shape. You live and you learn, I guess.
Specter and cruiser parts do this afaik.I just have a hunch that somewhere out there is a man with more money that he knows what to do with and is just purchasing land-cruiser parts aimlessly hoarding them. I fear that there is no shortage in parts, just a shortage in parts availability.
Oh my those covers are great! like a engineering guy got his way finally. Are the spare going up on your website for sale? Did you get to formally interview them? That’d make a great videoHere is a fun one! I came across an ad in the local craigslist selling some random 62 series parts. I show up and an older couple has an assortment of NOS 62 parts in a dealer parts bag. They used to own a FJ62 and were quite the travelers. With the parts were these very cool and rare (at least here in the US) 61/62 series AUS spec'd headlamp covers! I am not sure how they got them, guessing they picked them up on their travels.
Definitely dorky cool when they are on.

All kinds of cool here. Can’t tell are those vinyl covers the Australian kind I see on the www? Here are some photos of my non-us fj60. It has the 60-40 split front row, third row jump seats and ambulance doors. I live in the Tampa area if anyone ever wants to see it.

I wish I got to interview them! It was actually before we started the Cruiser Cult so the interviews were not a thing yet. I should go back and see if I can find their contact info somehow.Oh my those covers are great! like a engineering guy got his way finally. Are the spare going up on your website for sale? They sure has cool stuff. Sadly I will never buy anything from them. All repro parts I have bought or seen from them are like they haven't even tries to do them properly. And the way they respond to reclamations is close to zero.Speaking of interviews. The one we just did with Maarten at Cruiserworld.eu has some great unobtanium part pics in it: Cruiser Cult - https://www.cruisercult.com/post/cruiser-cult-interview-series-episode-14
The story on how he got the parts is awesome in itself, I had never seen NOS floor sheet metal and doors for a 60:

Here is a fun and rare bird.... the Turbo badge from the HJ61. Took me years to find one! They are often faded, warped or have broken studs. The metal grill brackets are often rusted to death as well.

What is the secret to quality paint filled engravings?thanks ,
i think its kool to be able to document a restored part and cross compare to what the ravages of age time , and normal use can indeed do .
until somebody posts a NOS one , this is the next best thing we have , as long as its been done as period correct in detail as possible
What is the secret to quality paint filled engravings?
Thin enough paint and a small brush. I use Tamiya acrylic hobby paint. If the paint is thin enough it seeks to small gaps and fill them when just put a drop of paint somewhere in the engraving. What is the secret to quality paint filled engravings?
