As long as you play it on a factory cassette deck. Here's mine, from my HJ60. I wish I had taken a photo of it when I removed it a while back, but there is a factory diagram on the top of the cassette deck on how to connect to the radio. There is a harness that plugs into the back of each to connect them.

Oh - and notice the crack-free heater bezel. Another unobtainium...

Unfortunately I don't have the original cassette deck. I found an AM/FM/Cassette/CD unit out of a 2000 Camry at the junkyard that's doesn't look out of place in my 1982 60. The CD provision is for a trunk mounted CD changer - there's no CD slot on the head unit, only cassette - and I hacked BlueTooth into that. It's all hidden under the dash so you don't see it. I need to scrape off the label and have one made that says "BT". Also: it says Toyota on it and the backlight is green so it matches fairly well.

Oh my god, I want that Country Cruisin' tape so bad. I have a cassette deck in my 60, so it's just a matter of tracking one down. I'm sure it will be easy haha.
It is not easy. For the last 6 years I have collected those, this is the only one I have found. All the others you see now and then for sale.
We need audio for all of these now! :bounce: Fantastic collection!
I can try to make a playlist in youtube :D

This is definitely obtanium, a simple email to @ChaserFJ60 fixes that heater bezel problem with a solution that will probably outlast the entire truck
I ran over one with my FJ60 and its still usable. These are much stronger than OEM lol

so was it intentional destructive testing, or an "oh f*&k, what did i just run over?" but a win either way obviously

Not as exciting as everyone else’s, but it’s something.

It was intentional. I was messing around with my quality control unit and decided why not. I had already thrown it at the ground and up in the air a few times with only a few dings. There was a small crack after I ran it over but you could never tell haha

i can see the marketing scheme now, 'crash tested n damn near indestructible'. good on you man 👍

I don´t know why but I somehow love these old style cardboard boxes. It is always a struggle to throw them away and many times they are left hanging around on some shelf.

Totally! The old packaging is so cool. All the variations over the years. Like you, I also struggle to toss them. They are fun to keep around as long as it doesn't hamper the space for new parts. hahaha
