I am very sorry for your loss, though happy for you that you and your family are ok. I too will look forward to contributing to your next cruiser project. My heart goes out to ya.

Thanks guys ! I really don't have alot to use off my 67. I was thinking of reusing the axles, I don't know if the heat baked them. I had disc on the front and back.

If the engine oil is not burnt I would no be afraid to use it. Install new seals, gaskets, cam gear if it has rubber insert and it should be good.

/this\

Of course, knowing all the gaskets and seals are cooked would mean a tear down to the timing cover plate at a minimum.

At that point, you’d see what you can be seen, short of physically inspecting the piston rings. If they don’t expand when pulled out of the bores, they’re done.

There was some extreme heat going on during the fire. Had brand new emu Springs, they were as straight as an arrow after the fire. The carb was totally melted. Being that I wanted to restore the vehicle with as much original parts, the time and energy I spent acquiring the right parts to overhaul it it's not worth going through again. I would definitely look to a newer F motor or fuel injected V8 for the next project.

Wow, flattened springs! Definitely not a good sign.

You’ve probably got tennis balls for pistons at that point. :(

Here ya go! I am going to pull off that double Groove lower pulley.

I seriously doubt it's any more usable than the front motor mounts. Damn.

This sucks on so many different levels. I wouldn't be up here today but I put up a burned-out 40 that I had with matching numbers for sale so I'm supposed to get that picked up and out of here today.

Is that 40 covered by an insurance?

I wouldn’t sell it until it’s a done deal with the insurance company if it is.

If that’s already been taken care of sorry, I just wanted to throw that out there.

Either way this totally sucks.

That was a parts vehicle I picked up a while back I did not have any insurance on it.

I still have my 69 front axle converted to mini truck knuckles etc and a cutdown-rednecked GM tie rod. It’s yours if you want it.

It’s open, stock gears.

I have a couple of early cases too if you go that route. One has the 3-spd and GM belhousing already setup.
Thank you for the generous offer, it is going to be awhile before I'm even going to have a place to work out of. On a brighter note we are looking at getting a house in a nearby town. Real estate is fierce right now. With the mass Exodus from the fire, it has caused the Market to jump up 100 to 150k. My problem is I have to either have room for a shop or buy a place with a shop. Unfortunately not many places come with shops.

I am so sorry for your loss. I just found your thread and was enjoying it until I got to the fire part. What a shock. I wish you the best and hope to read about another build some day soon. You have also prompted me to call my insurance agent on Monday.
That is the situation that I would like everyone to be aware of. Even if your project was in pieces like mine, still take the effort and put some comprehensive insurance on it. It doesn't cost that much.

Damn. Makes me want to cry, but my 8th graders might think it's a bit strange  Sorry for your loss, my friend Jamie's brother I believe lives there in Paradise... it's a bad deal...

Thank you for the supportive words. It is a "bad deal" for a lot of folks involved in the Camp Fire. Its amazing, we are now living an hour away from Paradise, ever so often I will bump into folks I know from the area. After sharing our plight there are a lot of negative stories but there is also an overwhelming amount of good that has surfaced from this event. The kindness and generosity shown to each other and the aid from outside resources had been epic.:clap:

Been doing well.

Had a guy up north in Redding, but he went out of business. I have been looking out of state. I had located a place in Arkansas and referred another mud member to them. They did a pretty good job.

I have heard Royal Plating in Tuscon is good.
