529'S and 315's?

Your going to get a lot of people telling you go 4.88 if you plan on staying 315. But I have talked to ZUK from gearinstalls.com and he runs 35's with 5.29s and loves it. He first went 4.88 and wasn't happy so he swapped them out for 5.29. I personally am going to go with 5.29 and am running 35s currently but with plans on running 37s' in the future.

I'd go 4.88 with the high range ud to get 5.29 if you'd like..

Depends on how much highway driving you do. I have 5.29 with 38's and my revs are still higher than stock on the highway.

Another option would be 4.88's with a gear reduction in your transfer case. Do the 4.88s now and then do the transfer case reduction when you get to 37's or 40's. It's more expensive but then you have super low gearing on the trail and with the 10% underdrive, it would be the same as 5.29s on the highway.

But if I were only going to do a gear swap, I'd go 5.29s. It sure is an expensive mod to have to do twice.

How original. It's almost like I heard that before

If you're planning on going up tot 37+ anyway, I'd say just run the 5.29's and enjoy the extra pep in the meantime. You're not going to break anything by running higher RPM's on the highway, just burn a little extra gas.

He may be at a higher RPM on the highway, but when you are cruising you are using less gas then you are when you in town driving from stop light to stop light. When I drive, I have noticed how much my foot is into the gas pedal to get up to posted speeds. With the 5.29s you are not going to be into the pedal as much which overall will save gas especially on surface streets and initially when merging on the freeway.

But fuel mileage also depends on your driving habits too.

Watch the above video, after I watched it I decided to go 5.29. With the extra weight of the LC itself and then adding bumpers, larger tires, expo gear, recovery gear 5.29s won't seem so bad after all.

What the top speed of 5.29’s with 315/35” tires?

5.29 @ ~3000 rpm is about 74mph
4.11 @ ~3000 rpm is about 95mph and its hard to get more rpm

Guess my gears and tire size:grinpimp:

Not trying to start anything but who honestly drives their modified 80 75 plus? Mine has the minimum modifications and I roll on the highway at 60-65.

Lots of people do on here. But I dont mind driving slower. 60 to 65 mph is a nice speed. Heck I do it all week in my 18 wheeler.

This and a Turbo kit are the only large expenses left on my list of things to stick on my 80. Then everything else will just evolve from there. I better start saving my Pennies.

I'll cruise 70-80, depending on at what speed the tires start shakin that day :hillbilly:

I cruise 75+, often, like daily, 60-65 is asking to get run the :censor: over around here!:hillbilly: Prefer my 2100rpm at 70mph ish, quieter, smoother. See no reason to spin the driveshafts and everything else faster? The regeared rigs are slightly quicker off the line, don't care, it's not all of that and a Cruiser is never going to be a race car.:meh:

Drive from SLC to Evanston WY about 80 miles, speed limit is 80mph and I will often do 85-90mph. Sucks a huge amount of fuel since it is uphill the whole way but good fuel mileage on the way back. lol.

I generally drive as fast as conditions will allow. Straight shot across Wyoming, I'll go as fast as aerodynamics will allow, which is maybe 80 on a flat or 85 on a slight downhill (whole truck starts vibrating at this speed, wife loves it :hillbilly: )
