It's time for a new set of shoes and I'm considering a set of BFG KO3's ... I've always run MTs but as I get older and grumpier I'd like something a bit more comfy on the highways (re: less noise) and am also anticipating more snow travel in the future. I kinda had my heart set of Baja Boss AT's but they don't offer them in a 16" 315 size so I'm now looking at KO3's. I'd appreciate some input on how the KO3's do on the rocks and if the negative comments about their issues about balancing are justified.
TIA!

From what you describe, I would also throw out there to consider Falken Wildpeak AT4’s (AT3’s have been discontinued). They come in 315’s on 16”. 3-peak snow rated (KO’s are not FWIW). Very nice road manners and low noise. Off road they will certainly do anything I’m willing to do and keep up with MT shoe’d trucks with no problem. Have Toyo MT’s on an 80 now. Progressively will switch everything to the Falkens over time, for similar reasons as you mention.

No experience with the KO3 but the KO2's are great on my 4Runner... I would think that they are very comparable.
I live in Denver and my KO2's see plenty of snow. I have zero complaints with the KO2 and plan to go KO3 once i've worn these out.

Nitto Trail Grappler are proven to be great on ROCKs... No idea on K03s, but i am sure they are great.

I have run BFG AT's for a long time- my favorite tire. Did great in the San Juan mountains of Colorado, great in snow, and a fantastic tire all-around. Pull the trigger, I think you'll like them.

I have the Wildpeaks on my 4runner and the KO3's on my '96. It's hard to split them to be honest. No issue balancing the KO3.

on my 3rd set of KO3’ MT’s…very happy with thier performance on rock in Colorado…walked up the wall at ploughkeepsie gulch without spinning a tire…17psi at the time…

I have the Falken Wildpeak AT4W 305's 16 on my LX450 stock wheels. They are smooth and no noise. Looks aggresive too.
