I am looking to replace my BFG all terrain tires with a mud terrain. I want a larger tire and wanted some input on the BFG 33x10.50 and the 33x12.50. Basically the same with one being 2" wider. I am running the Amercian Racing 8" wide wheels so I think either tire would not be too wide for my wheels.
Any Thoughts?
Gary

It depends on the use. In mud and snow 10s dig through better, in sand 12s float better. With 8" wheels 10s fit better, 12s will vibrate more on narrow wheels and will also suck more gas.

10.50 I think would be better

I think I will go with the 33x10.50. It just makes more sense for my ride. turning w/o power steering. turn radius. most of my driving is in mud. the all terrains are OK but almost got in trouble last weekend with not enough grip.
Thanks
Gary

If you run mud I would go with the 12.5 width tire on the 8" wheels. When I ran through mud with 10.5s on 8" wheels I would always get mud between the bead and tire when aired down. Breaking the beads free and cleaning out the mud to stop the leaks got old real fast. And just go ahead and install power steering, you will be very happy you did. Many consider it to be one of the best easy mods you can do.

I'll make it easy for you. The 10.5 is only available in the AT. The MT is on national backorder.
In 12.5 the MT is due in a month and others are available now. (at tirerack)

If you don't have a lot of lift, the 10.5 will probably tuck inside the rear fenders, depending on your back-space.

I actually found some of the 10.50's at a decent price and the 10.50's are about $25 per tire less expensive than the 12.50's. They are KM2 series which is the new tread design.

On the other hand I like the look of the bigger 12.50's. I have fender flares on the rear so I have the space for the 12.50's.

I also found some Adventurer MT for around $650 complete at a local shop. Good looking tire but no experience with this manufacturer. Any body got any experience with this tire?

I had 12.5s when I got the truck, I am now into 10.5s - much less wander on the road

either way, with manual steering, you will want to make it a point of steering when the truck is moving :flipoff2:

Where did you find the km2's?

Not a very good pic but these are my 12.5 on 8 in rims. Will give you an Idea of what yours would look like.

cool looking

nice looking ride, I go through Tuscaloosa often to Birmingham. I like stopping at Woods and Waters Outdoor store.
Thanks for that picture.

On Thursday I found Tire Team web site. The web site said they had 12 tires. I called to verify size, and that in fact they were Mud Terrain KM2 in the 33x10.50x15 size. they went to the warehouse and verified. I ordered them on Friday morning when there web site said they had 8 left. going fast.

I just got a message that my order of 5 is on its way. Thanks for the link. These are hard to find right now.

tires

My tires came in yesterday and I went directly to the installer. They got them on and yep that is the tire for me and my cruiser. Perfect fit of height and size. Drove it home and 65 to 70 there is no strain, no loud whine, smooth ride, no wondering. I felt like a kid with a new toy. I will post some pictures, like a brand new father wanting to show off his new baby. I guess I should give out some cigars. LOL.
