Can someone please explain the main difference between a light truck (LT) and a side by side (SxS) construction tire?

The Yokohama MT G003 is available in a 37 x 11.50 R17 with a load rating of 121 (3200 lbs) and speed rating of Q (100 mph) but is still listed as side by side usage.

How is it possible to have the same load and speed rating as a light truck construction but not be suited for this usage?

Is it simply a case of a softer compound being used or is there more to it?

So here I am actually seeing quite a few guys running SxS tires on lighter weight trucks like Jeep, Suzuki, etc. I think they would be fine on something like a FJ40 or SWB 70 series. There are definietly some very apealing sizes and compounds. They are also a lot less money.
I am actually thinking about getting one of those narrow 37's for my spare to save interior space.

The 37s with that load rating should be suitable for any cruiser that isn’t heavily loaded.

This is one of the only threads anywhere I could find talking about these SXS tires that come in full size truck sizes. There are not many options for a 37x11.5R17. The main hurdle I have found for the Geolandar SXS models is that they are not DOT approved. So unless your rig is offroad only, probably not a good idea to run them. I assume these must be similar to some other brands "competition" tires that are also not DOT approved.

I'm seriously considering using this tire just for offroad trips here in Colorado, and the occasional Moab hikes.
My daily tire is a Kenda Klever R/T 35x10.5R17, which has been great.

Not concerned about being "designed" for side-by-sides. C-load vs my current D-load, and same load capacity.
Has the standard 6-ply for C-load. My Kenda D is an 8-ply.

My 100 is probably lighter than most and I run very minimal chassis/suspension lift, but a 1" body lift.
The Kenda 35's run quite a bit below the 34.7. I'm at 33.5" when mounted on the 100 at daily pressures.
