295/70/18 is a tire size that you should consider*

These Recons are killing it here. If they're really as balanced in their other qualities...

Dang, I’ll never do that in my Cruiser. Lol! But they sure liked the tires :)

Just installed 295/70r18 Recon Grappler. I used my iwatch noise app and shaved off 5-7db with these Recons. Not only that, they are noticeably more quiet vs Ridge Grappler. Mileage ahead will tell how much more the noise level increases but damn, they are so freaking smooth compared to Ko2 and Ridge grapplers I’ve owned. Granted they are an SL tire but they are not floaty at all. Just smooth and comfortable. I am getting an alignment Friday to give me a little more clearance at full right turn but they barely rub now.

What psi are you running? How planted do they feel on the highway?

Looks great.

34psi. I am taking a longer drive later today and will update but from my short highway drive, they felt just as planted as my E-load Ridge grapplers but I also noticed when coming off the long bending exit ramp, they felt just as sure and less heavy in the steering.

I took my wife out for dinner DT and the highway trip there on the new Recon grappler was very pleasant. She noticed how much smoother and quieter the 200 was. However, I noticed a drone sound between 60-65mph and then it tampered off from 66-69mph and then almost no sound after 70mph. Very odd. The tires are absolutely silent under 59mph and pretty much after 71mph with very slight drone noise but it’s really hard to detect. I turned the music up to 11 and then I just hear music, not the constant loud white noise from my previous ridge grapplers where I had to have the music around 16 vol. lvl. I am seeing similar db reduction levels as this review. I run these size tires as well. When first installed I thought no way. They rubbed on literally everything. Dropped it off yo a shop that works on a lot of 4 runners. Picked it up and no more rubbing. BMC and some pushing of the front portion of the fender liner was all it needed. I was Initially anxious about the BMC but it seemed like a pretty common and painless operation for 4Runner guys. Was the same for the LC. I’m Running 0 offset wheels with Falken Wildpeaks. I want the meaty Mud terrain look now. Was planning to do 35 12.5 x18 but now seriously considering going straight to 37’s. Why not right? It’s just a lil rubbing and cutting.

I can try to put a few more up later, any specific area that concerns you clearance wise? For me it was remove mud flaps, trim the door/step molding (that was already done for sliders, push the mud flap bracket back, and use heat gun to form liners as close to metal as possible. With that done no rubbing. Had some rubbing on liners until I got more aggressive with pushing them back with heat gun.

LOL i want to do a sloppy photoshop on my truck. I just don't think it will look nice on it.
But this is undeniably the best choice aftermarket wheel for the platform.

Ok, here are ones just for visualizing: mine are the dark gray/black think they had a second color choice. Sitting in standard height not high mode.

Yeah those are a bit wide regarding side lugs etc. but they tuck up into the wheel well when compressed. Angle was maybe not perfect as it was close to a refrigerator.

how are these working out? would love to install on my 2011

They were very comfortable, but returned them do to a low hum that apparently only I heard at certain speeds somewhere between 60-68mph if I recall. I should have just kept them to see if it went away after 1k miles. They are a little squishy when cornering as well. I ended up with the same size in Revo3 and they have been excellent. They are silent and handle cornering much better. Granted they are E rated and are stiffer.

Can somebody help me sanity check my plans here-
2010 LX, stock except I've already put on steel 18" Tundra takeoffs.

I'd like to go 295/70/18 in either the Revo3 or KO2.

They will clear the stock bumper, but I may need to cut away some liner/flap, correct?
Obviously no control arm issues on the LX.

Am I missing anything?

I'm leaning Revo3 as I do a lot of highway driving and the off-roading is mainly on sand.

Oh the other thing I need is TPMS sensors. What's the best way to handle that at the shop? Should I assume they'll have universal sensors and be able to pair them?

From what I've researched the valve stem angle is different for steel wheels (20 deg vs 40 deg) and that throws people off if they're trying to use parts designed for the LC200 alloys.

You'll need a wheel spacer, 1" should be enough. I used a 1.25" and it also worked.

Ok thanks. What happens if you run without the spacers?

You’ll rub the UCA, sway bar and probably inner fender liner in rear when you tuck the tire.

Yes, some massaging. Don't wholesale cut as there's some better ways to tuck the liner. This post is for a larger tire, but has some of the same strategies that would help. The 295 will work awesome!

Forward of front wheel, liner

Here's the recipe for moving the fender liner forward. I used this same strategy for 33s, moving the liner forward about 1". 35s require it to be pulled forward more. There's no need for dramatic butchering of the fender liner. Most of the liner can be kept, and just pulled forward towards the front of the vehicle by ~1.75". Reuse the stock clips and drill holes to secure them at the new location. I added a 1/4" plastic clip for good measure. Then a couple small cuts (oscillating multi-tool) for the horizontal piece sticking into the well.

This is looking upwards under the bumper:
