295/70/18 is a tire size that you should consider* (9 Viewers)

I thought Main Line Overland was the official distributor for US.
I’ve contacted them and asked for a quote. Hopefully a strong dollar vs the euro will drive the price of evo corse wheels down for American buyers. They’ve got a relatively lightweight (30.2lb) 18x8.5 et30 option which I think would be perfect as a no spacer option.

OEM + 1.25” is an effective offset of +28.25 (60-31.75). What is not cutting it? I know plenty of people run that size tire and that offset on LX. Are you hitting KDSS? You should probably look at relocating KDSS as option. The more you space out your wheel, the wider arc it swings on, so the more you have to clearance the fenders and fender wells.

Most of the ICON options are +25 or lower. There are a few Method wheels at +35. Evo Corse come in a few offsets between 0 and 45, and if you don’t mind spending the $$ and time, can be custom ordered in any offset I believe. There is also Braid Winrace wheels in custom sizes. Haven’t seen those in person and they are pricey, but they look sweet in the pictures I’ve seen.

When I test fit the 295, it hits the KDSS bar at full lock but not the bolt or anything else.

Most of the discussion here is for vehicles without KDSS I think. Kdss requires more work than just appropriate offset to make this size fit I think.

What are the concerns with doing a kdss relocation kit and what that the process of doing it?

I am running 295/70R18 tires on my 2013 Land Cruiser and have zero rub. It took quite a bit of fender liner work, but the bumper, fender, and cab mounts are untouched. I am using the Blackhawk KDSS front and rear kit with some customized front links.

Oem suspension?

How planted does the vehicle feel on the highway compared to stock with the larger tires?

@tbisaacs im just now starting to kind of see the genius here.
The more i look at this size, the more appealing it seems.

@lx200inAR i like those 944s… how much do you trust 2500lb load?
Do we know what OEM rating is?

Thanks brother! I actually went to a method 501 with about ~10mm more offsets and no issues so far.

Youve got a nice classic safari rig theme going, the wheels are a great fit!
Will you just black out the grill for me though? :)

Dobinsons MRA with a 2.5" lift. Not as planted as stock for sure, but it does not float. I also have 25mm offset wheels
These settings below are highly recommended by a Land Cruiser outfitter who dialed these in over multiple days trying to find the best for on-road travel without additional aftermarket weight. MRA is my next setup

Thanks. I found this out as well. I have driven 200's with Fox and with BP-51. IMO the Dobinsons rides considerably better.

Just installed 295/70r18 Recon Grappler. I used my iwatch noise app and shaved off 5-7db with these Recons. Not only that, they are noticeably more quiet vs Ridge Grappler. Mileage ahead will tell how much more the noise level increases but damn, they are so freaking smooth compared to Ko2 and Ridge grapplers I’ve owned. Granted they are an SL tire but they are not floaty at all. Just smooth and comfortable. I am getting an alignment Friday to give me a little more clearance at full right turn but they barely rub now.

Are you running spacers?

I picked my kid up from school, drove over the usual speed bumps, broken pavement and she noticed a big improvement plus the lack of road noise. Before with the E-load Ridge Grapplers, the speed bumps were a bit jarring and worse for the rear passengers. Now, they just feel like a smooth rolling speed bump. Only one day with these tires but so far I’m impressed.

These Recons are killing it here. If they're really as balanced in their other qualities...
