Looks like they are using the old hood. Proabably no DPF in GCC models which is a good thing

@MonCruiser whats a DPF?
Diesel Particulate Filter (cleans up dirty diesel fuel because the VDJ is sort of finicky about dirty fuel.)

We would definitely need that here! Our fuel is questionable.
No you don't need or want that. It is not for filtering the diesel. it filters the diesel emissions after it has been burned off in the engine. I would prefer one without it. My 2012 GCC HZJ76 did not have an EGR whereas Australia and Japana had them since 1999 so i wouldnt be surprised if GCC ones don't come with DPF.
Yes basically it is a catalytic converter for diesels
DPF injects Urea (or something else) into the exhaust to supposedly lean the exhaust, therefor getting rid of EGR.
Our shop Duramax requires DEF. If you run out it goes into limp mode and runs poorly to say the least. I imagine the poor performance is deliberate in order to force you to feed it DEF AND fuel.
