So here's a JDM aftermarket steel bumper I picked up earlier this year:

I like it so far. It's bolted to the frame rails and immediately rises up, where the main bar sits just below the front body line. It sits high enough that you can see the frame and front crossmember. I still need to figure out the winch situation, but it feels like a nice middleground between something substantial enough to actually protect the front end, without being huge and bulky. Again, hard to tell how this bumper compares to CO's bumper since I haven't seen it in person. It looks very nice though now that I went back to the linked thread and took a better look at it. The rear bumper utilizing the existing bolt holes might have sold me on it. I hadn't read too far into that thread and thought you needed to drill holes into the rear doors. If it's reversible then that is a great benefit.

Luke makes a clean tight bumper. I had one on my 80 and would put on my 70 series if I needed a front bumper.

@TreadingLight has some nice 4x4Labs bumpers on his troopy:

Front is available with or with out the upright bars

Rear bumper is pretty sweet too, so here's some photos

I went bumper hunting with similar criteria and am a huge fan of Luke's design at 4x4labs. Sits up tight against the body and has good angles.

He can set it up for an 8274 or other winch styles and I had them add upright bars so I can bounce burros off the front without damaging the radiator. Without the upright hoop it is very sleek.

Decide to order a Coastal Offroad front bumper for the KZJ73 with their Black Friday 15% off coupon .

@cruiseroutfit you guys running any black friday deals on your 7x bumpers , still would want at least a front bumper for my HZJ73 restomod project .

Here’s one of the coastal off-road bumper from the side. From appearances, I wouldn’t think cruiser outfitters sits lower in any meaningful way, just down to styling preferences. If I did mine again I’d probably have it pushed out a little more to the front, it’s easy enough when it’s welded up.

I also didn’t know cruiser outfitter did one when I bought mine, not sure which I would’ve picked had I known.

@Flynn - Think you could post a pic of this from front on. Like to see it

Everything on CruiserTeq.com will have a BF/CM sale but not the 7x bumpers as we have a single rear left in stock. We do have a batch of front and rears in process. We hope to see them in January, we are currently taking back-orders for that batch.
