So what does it take to clear 315/70/r17 on a Land Cruiser? I can actually find pretty good deals on this size but what should I be expecting in terms of trimming, alignment etc. Thanks.

Looks like you're no stranger to built rigs with the beastly Xterra in your sig. Titan swap? Don't be afraid of fitting 315s, it's far easier than what you've done to your Xterra.

You'll pretty much need to do what I've documented in the first link of my sig for 35x12.5R20s. That are just a hair larger overall than 315/70R17s. The only difference is KDSS on the LC which will require a relocation kit (simple bracket), and possibly locate the end link to the outside of the LCA bucket to avoid binding.

Definitely reference the youtube video that @tbisaacs notes as there's some key parameters that you'll want working for you rather against you. More discussion on those topics here

Thanks, I think I'm gradually getting an idea of what to expect. I've read mixed views on the KDSS relocation brackets but a couple of experienced users that have had them for a while here have been advising against them because of the long term wear and tear on the bushings. The thing about that particular tire size (315/70/R17) is that it is the Bronco Sasquatch size and a lot of them go to shops to swap out to bigger tires. So right now I have access to get a set of almost new ones for around $500. That's like 1/4th the price of new 295/70/18 or 285/75/17 so that's why it's tempting.
So far my assessment is kind of like this:

285/75/17 Is the best rational choice. Truck is happy and it fits releatively easily
285/70/18 Almost same as above, just less tire side profile so not as good but might be an option for me depending on wheel choice
295/70/18 This one may need the KDSS relocation bracket. It's kind of border line depending on the wheel BS and offset I guess.
315/70/17 Will definitely hit the KDSS and might even hit the fenders but cheap tires

That's a steal for bigguns! And an opportunity to stretch the budget for mods elsewhere.

IMO, KDSS mods and wear is more a mental constraint than real. The reality with every mod is that there's additional load and wear. Shocks, UCAs, etc., they all are stressed more but that's never become a limitation. BMC is another mental block on these boards falsely limiting our options.

I just helped a buddy install 285/70R18s on his GX. That's a great size that dropped right in on a medium body SUV with a BMC. The 200-series can easily swallow and benefit from larger sizes if desired.

Picked up a light used set (4) of Bridgestone Dueler Revo 3s in 305/55/r20 for a steal ($360 for all four). Also got a set of 1.25 spacers. These will be mainly used so I can get the Pirelli AS tires off for a trip to Big Bend later this month.

Will I be able to fit a 5th in this size onto the spare? Will post photos once mounted up.

Great pick up! Having run that size before, it'll be a nice fitment. Just watch the body mount. Revos tend to be a bit more conservative than the Fallen AT3Ws I ran, so with a bit of caster in the alignment, should clear. It could help to go down to a 1" spacer but you'll need to clearance the wheels for the studs.

+35 will actually work better with more clearance all around.
Counterintuitive, but +25 actually reduces clearance as the greater offset makes the tire swing more into the front and rear of the wheel well.

Thats the practically perfect offset.
Theres fitment threads and notes all over the place, dont worry about not seeing it here. There are several options and folks running that setup.

With your chosen tire size, you really cant ask for a better pairing for this platform.

Ok, new here and did a lot of reading and tried searching but cannot find an answer. I also watched the video that @TeCKis300 posted and found it very informative but it has me concerned about the wheels that I want to purchase perhaps having too much offset from stock wheels.

They are Level 8 MK6 wheels (lots of Tacoma guys run them) in 18x9 with 12 offset. I intend to put 285/65/18 tires on them. I have a stock 2013 LX570 that will only see very mild off-roading. Will I have any rubbing issues?

Taco's have OEM offsets of ~ +15 - +30 (varies depending on model), while the 200-series uses stock offset of ~ +50 - +60. Can't really compare the two as the architecture is different.

That's a mild tire size and can likely fit with some rubbing to resolve because of offset. Definitely will struggle going up further in tire size, and the 200-series loves bigger tires.

Fitment isn't the only concern.

Drivability and handling will be compromised as offset fundamentally affects suspension geometry. Namely scrub radius. Steering will pull with high acceleration or braking loads and can be fatiguing to drive. Cornering traction is compromised as the tires don't point at exactly the same point in the arc.

For a daily driver trying to maintain the best qualities that are built in, I'd highly recommend +25 or higher.

Method has a few similar wheels without the fake bolts/bead locks in the +25 to +40 range.

Will have to see if I get any rubbing at full stuff/lock. I love the look and extra meat, but I do think they poke a little too much for my liking (trying to not go full off road rig with this LX just yet). Fortunately these tires don't seem to have sacrificed any of the on-road characteristics and are very smooth. Will run them for the remaining life in the tires and then see what to go to next (downsize tire/spacer, 18" wheels, etc.).

It'll work much better with 1" spacers. Check for hub clearance against the studs.

Help. I'm wheel stupid. Is there any concern in moving from the stock '09 LX wheel to the stock '13-15' LC wheels? I'd be running stock tire sizes on Michelin Defenders. I'm just interested in adding some sidewall comfort to the LX.

Pretty sure your OEM wheel is also +60. Definitely no issues swapping for any OEM LX/LC or 2nd Gen Tundra from 2008-2021 especially if running stock tire size.
