I'm trying to move a set of OEM mags from a 2021 LC to a 2014 LC.
The rear pair fit OK, but the front pair seat very tight (have to tap the wheel onto the hub with a rubber mallet) and the center cap won't seat all the way and lock due to the domed axle grease cap.
Is that domed grease cap really necessary?
Can't I just replace it with a flat Tundra grease cap?
I can trim the center cap tabs to make them seat and lock in place, but I'd be leaving minimal plastic.
Any input appreciated.

I don’t know about the center cap, but I wonder if the tight hub fit is due to corrosion. The hub metal interacts with the wheel metal in salty areas and can really bind things up.

No, the cap is not necessary. The wheel hubs get rusty/crusty so aesthetically it needs to be there. But it doesn't do much than protect the surface, nut and shaft end. We've run without them for maaaaaany years with zero issues.

Trimming the vanity cap to fit has been discussed here before, but I just got some 17 wheels for my 13.. and yes the cap won’t fit but it seems even the wheel barrel is too tight to fit over the hub nut cap cleanly.

I’ll take some pictures when I get a chance.
