closer shot of the assembled dash
the knobs are still sitting loose
the whole thing will be stripped in the morning and off to the painters.

Wayne,
I always learn something with you. I didn't even know that you could pull the dash off from the rest of the front clip and set it on a bench and really organize it like that. Really good to know before I send it off to paint.

Second point, how much hippoliner did you use for the for this project. I MIGHT be able to find a way to import some back into the country and it would help to have an idea of how much I'll need.
Thanks,
John

do you have the fiberglass tub or steel? if fiberglass then it is two parts, if it is steel then you can not do this.

one "kit" for the tub and 1/2 "kit" for the cover and 9 oz of color.

...if it is steel then you can not do this.

Sure you can! All it takes is a bit of cutting, spotweld cutting, and imagination!

But unbolting it easily? Nope. Not with the original steel tubs. I don't know if any of the aftermarket tubs (steel or aluminum) have a removable dash.

Dan

yah, plasma cutter and you can remove the steel dash but rewelding after paint might suck

Wayne,
Mine is an original steel tub, so I guess I'll have to find a way to do a mock up so I can plan this out better and show the guys what I want the finished product to look like.

On the Hippoliner when you say "kit" are you referring to one of these "kits":
products of the dominon sure seal

Thanks,
John

You probably do this as well, for the knobs I take a white crayon and fill in the lettering - makes them look like new. I suspect you could do the same with a white touch up paint.

that is the stuff...

pics of the reassemble hood...

once the 3/8" hood bumpers are installed above the supports then there will be 3/8" clearence over the scoop.
again the clearences are tight.

now one thing i don't like is cutting into a freshly painted body but the decision was made to relocate the front speakers and make the kickout vents operational.
2 layers of protective paper
2 layers of tape on the bottom of the jigsaw
measure once, measure twice,
go for coffee...

tonight i went to the sign shop to get the decals made for the indicator lights and e/lock diff panel...

turned out VERY nice, he does fantastic work. i got to watch as he did the layout and once those pics arrive i will post them up. it is a LOT more work than i had imagined. i figured 20 min job and 2 hours later this is what i had in my hand.

the indicator lights arrived yesterday thanks to Iron Giant. turns out Radio Shack doesn't ship to Canada...

looking good.

that wiring looks like a headache.

the locker switch ended up looking better your way than the way I had suggested-- the "disengage" wouldn't fit between the mounting bolts. Good call, Wayne.

GREAT decision on the kick vents. If you can put some sort of screen on 'em that's a nice way to keep yellowjackets from getting scooped up, pissed off, and deposited in your lap. Ask me how I know.

will those decals peel off? is there a an epoxy or something over them? everything looks excellent wayne

thanks guys,
the wiring is a nightmare but it is getting tucked up and will look neat and tidy once completed.
the decals are coming back off today and it will be straight lettering over alloy.
(the vinyl the guys uses is high end and it does not lift, i wasn't worried about covering it)
the vent bracket protrudes to the inside so a screen (although a very good idea) is impossible to implement.

the tires did not come in as schedualed so the day will be spent in the shop. i hope they arrive Monday.

to have a tight clamp as well as the ability to adapt to different sized batteries i modified the upper battery hold down bar. this allows the bar to widen if needed.
the 3 way gang plug will see a lot of push and pull and i did not beleive the 2 sided tape woudl be strong enough so i made a bracket to keep it fixed in place. now he will have to bust the dash before it will fall out.
the throttle cable location.
