Builds 1997 FZJ80 to HDJ80 1HD-FTE + H152F (5 Viewers)

Seen that truck (on your instagram), this was one was for sale for a long time from a Belgian guy who deals in Land cruisers.
How is the general condition on it? He has some other nice trucks for sale, but the pictures, infos are a bit shady in my opinion. Would be nice to know if he can be trusted before an 1800km drive to him...

As a parts truck or donor it’s great. As a build it up truck, it needs to much in my opinion. It has been used as a work truck by the looks of it, driven in salt as well. It’s also been sunk in the mud at least once, frame rails are full of mud.

This was my assessment as well—good parts truck, but there’s better candidates for build/restoration.

Re: the seller in Belgium, he wasn’t very forthcoming with details about the truck, but didn’t misrepresent it either. Lucky for us we were much closer and were able to go see it. The transaction with the seller went smoothly—no drama.

Custom made. Took two months I think.

Yea they were super easy to work with. I think the original estimate was 13 weeks. These showed up early. And look beautiful.

Time for an update, eh!?

We got some color match touch up paint made since you can’t get OEM touch up anymore for a 3H4. We touched up some scratches and gouges in the firewall before installing this new insulator.

We then did a quickie (temp-place holder) install on this new master and booster. I say quickie because, well you will see next post.

It’s been a couple weeks but we did a full refresh on the rear sliders, only parts not new here is the glass and aluminum frame.

So we got that HDJ80 donor truck. It has everything Johns 1997 FZJ80 has besides a sunroof and front power seats. I mean everything, ABS, air bags, diff locks, manual trans, 1HDFT, a/c, ect ect. So, we swapping harnesses. Here is the FZJ80 coming out and out.

Gave the firewall and what’s left of the HVAC in here a clean.

Tomorrow, start tear down on the donor HDJ80.
