@newtomelx ... thanx....sorting out HOW i can construct the center to be almost like a safe (tuffy) without adding too much material (metal frame, sheet metal body and some sort of cushioning and leather wrap).

ok...so......the colour

colour.webp

i went for 141 (Toyota 078MET).....what do u guys think?

with the fenders, bumpers and side steps in black

and...the engine FINALLY running.....needs a few minor adjustments..mainly the injector bolts need to be tightened...number 6 was slightly leaking out and u can hear it in the video.

has anyone performed a front facing rear quarter custom seating?

i want to design a drawer system that has a fold able seat.... folds to fill the space between the drawer system and second row seats.

a quick 3d of the overall idea

The rear seats on my JDM 1991 fold forward exactly like that, as do the UK spec 80 series. I'm not sure about others.

I took mine out (for tax reasons, try 300 pound road tax per year instead of 1400 pounds with 4 seats; bit like why you didn't change the colour, crazy rules the world over I guess!). They are still in one of the sheds here, but I doubt you want to drive to Ireland to get them!

You should be able to pick some up though in Kenya etc from an exported truck?

Its a nice simple solution because they are stock so fit the frame perfectly.

Somewhere here in Ireland there must be a massive 'rear seat graveyard' for all the seats from 4wds :skull::skull::skull:!

I'm not going to assist you here, but I am going to see what you do! My centre console is not in great shape and I have a similar idea in mind.

So lets see what you come up with physically. I like your 3D design though!:popcorn::poof::poof::popcorn:

would love to see an image of one....i mean how it was designed...i have this issue of how safe my kids will be back there.

I'll take some pictures tomorrow, but I have no idea how to post them; I'm sure I'll figure it out.

Are there seat and/or seatbelt mounting points in your truck in the rear?
I know some only have lap belts (like mine) others full inertia reel. A chap I know in Romania got a full inertia reel seatbelt kit fitted in his lately but it was very expensive. I'm not sure where he got if from, but at the price he paid,I would say Toyota (I never asked, I don't have kids OR rear seats :grinpimp::grinpimp::grinpimp:!
His is also a 1HZ, similar age to yours.

Where is this attach file of which you speak?

Sorry I'm a total reject when it comes to technology,I only discovered smilies lately that's why I use them.

Editing my post because I have now noticed the BIG ORANGE BYTTON 'attach'.

Will post them tomorrow! (MY time, its midnight here now)

btw...see the trailer in front of the car.....thats my second task after the cruiser is done...

Nice!

found myself a front bumper... ARB.... a bit rusty (surface rust only)...so getting that scrubbed and painted as well.

lower part, bumpers, side steps and roof rack are all going to be black....not decided yet to have them matt or semi-gloss.... suggestions??

need quick advice...... to flare or not to flare?? keep in mind its my daily drive, traveling, hunting.....and guess after i finish it up...probably will become my bedroom, living room and game station :D

I like the flares and have left mine in tact. Unless you will be traveling to places where lateral clearance will be a concern, I would leave them. I know some guys remove theirs to make a narrower stance for getting through tight canyons, trees, etc, but I like having mine there for a better look in my opinion. You can see in my signature photo that I painted mine black with a fine textured truck bed liner and it provides a bit of a flat look. I like it and it has held up very well after 1 year in South Texas sun and heat. The flares can also provide a little bit of extra protection for the sheet metal in those areas. Just a thought, but I'm sure it'll look great either way.

I like the flares, as they keep a lot of road debris off the truck. If it happens to rain there, the tires will sling the mud and dirt all over the side of the truck and the windows. If the kids are hanging out the windows, the flares will keep the rocks from hitting them in the head and teaching them to stay inside!

Looking great! I like the color! Can you do a slightly darker version for the flares, running boards, and bumpers? maybe the front bumper black? most typically, the bumpers are a satin finish, so they don't show prints, scuffs, or the like. I would do the matte finish on the ARB bumper.

yeah...i guess thats about right...i too like how they give the LC a "broader shoulder" look....like growing a moustache and beard ...but Willie Nelson style :D...and here it will also reduce the sand on the roads acting like sanding paper on the body.

i too was looking at a darker grey instead of black.....will see the options tomorrow.

Thanx for the input
