You can run two 12 volt batteries in parallel. That would give you a dual setup, basically you would just have one really big 12 volt. You would need to make your own wires, an extra + and - to go from your current battery to the other. I would use 4 gauge wire at minimum.

thanx...but im looking to somehow separate them when im camping. For example, to use the secondary for lights and audio while not affecting the primary. Would i just install a switch in the positive cable between them? and then once the engine is running i flip it back to charge both of them....and would my current stock alternator provide enough 'juice' to charge them and power the headlights? keep in mind my headlights are connected to the battery, unlike some setups i saw where they connect from the alternator directly.

my fairly cheap 6500lb t max winch.....i know it needs cleaning, but do i need to grease something? after cleaning it, i want to paint it black (besides the cable of course).

and the remote.....as an avid gamer, this feels like a joystick (meaning its not mean enough)

and some goodies from a new stock of junk from Saudi Arabia.... front windshield washer res and motor , hood and rear hatch suspension.

i need to get some supplies, as tomorrow is the last day of our work week....and i want to do as much of the wiring as i can till Saturday....so...

some brain storming...

i want the 2 batteries to charge once the engine is running, but i also want the main battery to be switched off once the engine is off. im thinking...relay....linked to the acc switch....when it has no power (ACC off) the secondary battery is working, once its ON, both batteries are working and hence charging as well..

problem is...i need to get the EXACT same battery so they dont drain each other out...but i want to install a dry cell as my primary, because these liquid ones have sooooo much maintenance.

any ideas how to do that.??? before u reply...image you are in the woods and can only strip something out of a stereo or something to do this... yes we do have supplies here.....but very limited.

its 12v and i think the alternator puts out about 60AMPs.... will do a quick test once my baby is home

80 amps . 60 was in the old 60 series ..

thanx Tapage..... i guess it will be enough to charge them both right? i dont have amplifiers etc...i do want to install like 4 off road lights....but wont be used much

dry not necessary means AMG any how 2 considerations ..

1. The amount of time vs how discharged are your batteries that your stock alternator will take to put 'em back 100%

2. The amount of loads you will put over your electrical system .. vs amp rate of your alternator

Too much traffic and traffic police. ...cruiser will be home 8 am tomorrow local time....they just love fining the general public. ...lets hope they over sleep their shifts tomorrow :D

And who pays there salaries ? The taxes of the same citizens they prey upon ?

The reason I asked on the battery is because there are sealed lead acid batteries that require no maintenance. The AGM types are very popular here but I have noticed a lot of people have issues with them. When I do dual batteries on my rig it will be lead acid, I've never had a problem with them and when they start to give out you can usually tell in advance rather then just being stranded.

the problem here is not the salaries they get....its how they just want the extra bribe...no matter how complete your paperwork is, they HAVE to get something out of you....thats why i get into so many fights with them... they just avoid trouble makers because they know it will bring them unnecessary attention.
But the haulage guys are usually from poor families (they dont own the trucks, they only drive them)...and are just afraid of the word police, let alone being stopped by one. Governments here are corrupt as corrupt can be. Dont get me wrong, the general public are wonderful, and if ever you raise your hand for ANY assistance you will find plenty....just dont call an officer of the law.

well....this Africa everyone.....whoever tells you different, has probably never left the Hilton they stayed in :D

@Aggiesdm ...after i looked at their work....i loved the whole black around your windows....soooooooo.....made them do that too.... :D

such a copy cat arent i....

while we waited for the haulage truck, got them to do a complete front knuckle check and rebuild, suspension, coil springs check and changed those rubber nipples that prevent the body slamming into the chassis....they actually call them shutoor here...literally translated...BOOBS.

wont be installing the ARB bumper yet....coil springs are 7 turns and the guy said we would need 9 turns for it to be leveled....is that where spacers come in to compensate??? would be better to wait for the springs or just install spacers??

Yes, spacers are what many use to level out there trucks. They will be fine to use. I was going to mention on your winch that you may want to take a look inside the solenoid box. It is one of the most likely failure points on any electric winch. Also some winches have an access port on the electric motor, this will allow you to check for any water or corrosion in there.

Did anyone else notice that mangled gantry in the above photo ? I'm guessing somebody got some extra body work with there paint job. Hope it wasn't yours Moe !
