@FJBen does the steep climb about halfway through still have pretty deep holes? Got some three wheelin’ action in my 60 a couple months back on that spot. I went out with a buddy who just bought a new Wrangler and I was trying to get his feet wet on an easy scenic trail - he wasn’t thrilled about that hill after watching me.

Gaining elevation. Road was pretty rocky so lots of jarring around. This isn’t a technical trail, more scenic. Most, 98% was done in 2wd. Summit is around 8700’ so not real high, but I live at 5000’.

In the spring and early summer, there can be deeper water crossings and mud. Not much at all this time of year. I did lock the hubs in before this as I would have been annoyed if there was a hidden hole and I had to get in it. It’s really flattened out in the photo, but you drop down 2-3’ in coming up her this water bar.

Up top we found an open meadow, small lake we were going to see if we could find some brook or cutthroat trout…yeah it’s mushy wet on that field..we passed.

You will notice burn damage. The High Park fire burned 87,000 acres.

Our path was up Rist canyon, over old
Flowers then back highway 14 to home.

Trees are coming back.

As @CruiserTrash alluded too, there was a climb that was pretty rutted out. Anytime there was a bad line to choose, I took it Made the trail a little more fun. I didn’t lift a tire but lost enough traction to stop. I was just barely above idle on it. Locked the rear and walked right up.

No pictures of the hills or the climb unfortunately.

If you are in the area, it’s a nice easy trail, no body damage and an awesome way to spend a day. We left at 8:30 and were back into Ft Collins by 12:30. Could have stopped a bunch more but still made a leisurely trip without being rushed.

We met up with @PabloCruise who lives less than 20mins from us to head to the last cars and coffee of the season here.


My son snapped this one. I need to get the better high quality one from him.

It was really busy here today. I didn’t get any photos of our cruisers here …fail. However there were lots of cool cars. Not sure the final numbers but multiple 100s of cars. The first of the year had 700 plus.

I really like cars and coffee. While car shows are still dominated by the “old cars” camaro, mustangs, mopars and hot rods, these shows are much more diverse and tons of 80s love happening.

I love that combo - so cool. To give an indicator of my problematic OCD, am I the only one who would fix the trailer height so the truck and trailer match?

Thanks for sharing Ben; this reminds me of a car show that my boys and I attended this past summer where I live, hundreds showed up for that one as well. Good times!

Yes a bit quieter and yes those spacers are brittle and escaping. I think it was @OGBeno stated those are a complete pain to replace in-situ.

Damn! Okay... thanks. Have a set on the way currently. Not something I'll attempt until I have garage space again then. Bugs me on my white 73... on the black 77 it's urban camouflaged. Don't even notice it.

I haven't actually done it. My body shop did it when I had the truck painted. I replaced both lower fenders with new OEM at the time so it was already apart. The upper and lower fenders need to be split apart to get the gaskets in. It is a huge job.

As a footnote the new part numbers have a captivated metal ribbon in the mounting surface. In theory that should prevent the holes from tearing out and allowing the gaskets to wander out. So far so good for me. 9 years ago but only around 15,000 miles.

Anyone care to confirm that weatherstripping for my front RHD door is 67861-90K07 and left is 67862-90K07?

Those are old/discontinued numbers. I believe 67861-60060 and 67862-60060 are the replacements.

As a footnote the fixed-windshield part numbers (for the doors with the rounded front upper corner) will fit but they do not make that squared-off upper corner as well as they could. I have that type on mime. The numbers are 67861-60110/67862-60110. They are live numbers in the US and are significantly cheaper.

Driving into town to pickup some things the RPM guage went out. My first thought was the bellhousing sensor/wiring. Yep, crawled underneath and found this.

Can you repair these epoxied sensors or just buying new if they are available?

You could try to use some rosin flux and solder new wires onto what is left of the old and you might get it to go for awhile longer, but not worth the time if you're able to replace the sensor.

1HZ RPM sensor is in the injection pump. Not the bellhousing like the 13B-T and older engines.
