Will these rims fit a FJ40? Without spacers? I'm not sure what the backspacing would be?

15"

they are on mine at the moment.

If they are solid-axle 4x4 pickup rims from 1985, they will fit and FJ40 just fine. No hubcap clips, typically.

Later IFS mini truck wheels will have more backspace ~4.5" or so and would need spacers. FJ40's like ~3.5" backspace depending on many factors.

If they are truly from a 1985 rig, then it *should* be straight axle. IFS started in '86, but who knows what a late '85 truck would have...

1979-1985 Wheels are the same as the disc brake fj40 steel wheels, but without hubcap clips.

86+ steel wheels have 4.5” of backspacing rather than 3.25”

This is not entirely true. The 40 rims are 5.5 wide and mini truck wheels are 6. They do have the same back spacing though.

Correct - I thought of that after the fact. Good catch.

they are both 6" wide for the white spoke wheels which are steel and were used on both for the later years. I didn't see a pic so not sure if the OP is talking about the hub caps wheels or the white spokes.
Solid steel rims, no clips. Not the white spoke wheels

Damn, those look pretty sweet!

What do you think those are worth per rim, anybody?

You can buy brand new FJ40 rims (15x5.5) with hubcap clips for $93 (discounted) at your dealer. In the old days, white pickup rims were ~$25/each. I don't know if they are now hotly in demand or not.

Agree. I guess the only benefit from what was said is a little bit wider rim if you didn't care about hub caps.
