Hi Karter!

Turbo is "almost" done. The whole assembly is in and ready. I haven't driven the truck as my friend Chris will help me tow it to the exhaust shop next week. The exhaust elbow (out of the turbo) is close to the bulkhead and I will probably melt a bunch of things if I run it for an extended period of time.

I will report back once the whole exhaust is done. I am taking advantage of the down time and wire all the gauges.

How is your truck running with the intercooler?

Are you planning on going with 3"?

Intercooler works a little bit, should work better once sealed to the hood with the scoop.
20lbs of boost really cooled the EGTs right down though.

It has been a while since I've updated this thread, but I had to put working on the BJ70 on the back burner in order to get my friend Omar's @omarluis FZJ80 ready for the Rubicon. We drove from Cincinnati to the Rubicon to attend the 26th Annual Rubithon Event in honor of Marv Spector.

After we got back from the Rubicon, I resumed work on the wiring of the gauges for the Turbo.

Since I don't like wiring (not that I don't like it, but I am very particular with how I like wires to look), I wanted to take the dash out just once and run all the wires I think I will need.

I made a little list of wires that had to be ran behind the dash:

1. Wires for switch to control the front auxiliary lights (x2)
2. Wires for switch to control the rear auxiliary light
3. Install new stereo with power amplifier
4. Wires for Boost, EGT, and Temperature Gauges with Control Modules
5. Wires for the illumination of the Gauges
6. Wires for the cable locker indicator lights

For the front auxiliary lights, I decided to use Genuine Toyota switches that my good friend Fernando @ferportu sent me from Venezuela. Thank you for this, Fernando!

To simplify my life a little, I decided to buy a Hella wiring harness and modify it slightly to fit the Genuine Switch

This is the Control Module for the ISSPRO EGT Gauge, I will need to find a spot behind the dash for it

And this is the Control Module for the ISSPRO Temp Gauge.

I haven't been able to come up with a cleaner idea on what to use for the indicator lights for the cable lockers, so far, I think I will use some switches I bought to wire the elockers, and only use the light as indicator light....suggestions on how to make it cleaner are wanted and welcomed

Started taking the dash apart

And decided to poke a little hole in the factory rubber grommet next to the heater hose to run the sensor feed wires for the gauges. I think it looks decently clean and makes the wires and Boost hose a little shorter.

Also presented the switches on the plastic bezel for a little visual motivation

Found a suitable spot in the engine bay for the relays for the auxiliary lights:

Drilled two little holes and painted them

Mounted the relays

And started wiring

Also, found an open/close vent for the dash panel, now I can open and close both side vents of the dash panel

Another photo of the gauges, Wayne's plate is very nicely made

And as you can imagine, the fit is tight with the stereo and all the wires behind them

When using Wayne's @crushers gauge plate, you will need to slightly modify the plastic bezel to make it sit flush against the dash and gauges

I asked Wayne @crushers, Karter @ForealBoreal, and Roger @Shes Mad how they have fitted the plastic bezel on their 70's. They mentioned that you needed to carefully trim the back of the bezel with a Dremel to remove material from the plastic and make the bezel sit flush against the gauges. Thank you Wayne, Karter, and Roger for the input!

Since we are talking about gauges, I bought this beauty for my BJ40 from Yan @Akella. Yan is a superb vendor and he can find very hard-to-find items from Toyota
