In case you haven't worked it out people on here have an obsession with correct information so when they see stuff being called out as one thing and it is obviously another it will get noticed and commented on. More so when you have a thread about a Resto on a BJ42 and no one can see a BJ42 in the thread they will wonder WTF . That is what makes Mud such a great resource for the LandCruiser world

The reason people are asking is that the body shown is NOT a BJ42 as the BJ42 had the later body with tank under the seat, different dash etc so even if you had done a rear tub I would think the dash would still be BJ42 which I do not think yours is.

What is the chassis number ? Does it start with BJ42 ?

The reason for that is that this is a fibre glass body. Should have mentioned that. It does have the tank under the passenger seat its just taken out currently due to redoing the interior. the dash on the otherhand was all to do with the AM fibre glass tub. the rest is stock BJ42. The chassis, VIN tag and engine, all coincide with a BJ42, sorry for the confusion. it is an aftermarket tub.

Do you still have the old body ?
i took off the original dash from my old 42 body and bolt It to the fiberglass body, it make everything easyer and It's removable for better acces to the wiring and other stuff

Look like you have a malotte tub

I don't. I wish that I did but I bought the truck in a few pieces because the previous owner had tried his hand at restoring it but the original tub was not included. I have the original VIN tag off the old tub on the new one but I've been looking into alternates. Been thinking Aqualu.

And I think it is a malotte, having looked at them bit. What are your experiences with them? The good? The bad? The ugly?

See there ya go, u have an early fiberglass tub on a late chassis:)

Definitely some miscommunication on that one haha. But yeah. I also have an early wiper cover on a later windshield frame I believe. But it’s not a complete resto. Just restoring it to as good as it could be with what I have.

A good 6 points cage with intgrated seats cross bars
You need to tie it to the frame with connector from under to the floor to the frame with poly bushing

Probably need solidify A and B pillars with some steel angle or square tubing

also probably need custom made body mounts on the tub

Im use to gozzard , super tough and well made , but I think you can make a malotte safe and solide too

I’ve looked at gozzard and they look pretty balling. Bothers me that a Canadian company sells in American dollars cause it’s screws us up here but I’m probably still gonna go Aqualu down the road.

Ok, that makes sense. Please continue, nice to follow what you are doing.

ok so you dont plan to build with this body , but a full aqualu body ?

Down the road yes. But for now I’m building with this one. Counter productive, I know but I’m sure you know how hard it would be to not insure it this spring. Haha rather spend a bit extra in the long run and wheel this spring then not, you know.

Thanks man, sorry for the confusion. I actually cut out the part where I talked about the fibreglass body and I’m regretting it. Like I said. First time ever doing anything like this and I’m happy you can be a part!

I haven't watch it yet but I see you have included a lady in your video, that will double let your views right there :)

Haha she’s my camera girl :) you’ll see lots of her in the off-roading videos and probably in assembly. :)

As I said it will double your views. I did an experiment several years ago where I uploaded two videos to different users and one had a girl in the thumb and the other had just the truck. Girl video had more than triple the views and engagement.

I mean it seems so stereotypical but hey if it works it works hahahahah

Sounds like a fun project. I’m just finishing a aqualu tub/cowl build and am real happy with it so far. Your electrical ideas are great. Build your glass tub up. Sort out the bugs and then slowly build your aqualu with no pressure. And transfer everything over. Just my 2 cents.

That’s the plan yeah. It’s what I have for now so might as well make it work. I’ll be saving for a while for the Aqualu cause I doubt I’ll be paid by YouTube anytime soon hahha
