My cruiser was in storage for 12months.
After this, it runs terrible, especially at idle.
It is stuttering and I see plumes of black smoke coming from exhaust.

I have since cleaned out the carburettor and made a new gasket for it.
Adjusted/checked the float level.
Replaced the petrol/gas as it was older than 2years. I use fuel stabiliser.
Checkedcthe ignition timing, all ok
Measured the compression, all ok.
Tried without airfilter, no difference.
The sparkplugs soot up, I clean them but no difference

I suspect a carburettor issue and my dad thought it could be a blocked auxilliary airjet.
Does anyone have an exploded diagram or something for this carburettor?
Or a hint what else this problem can be?

Best regards
Bernt

Yea well there are like a billion carbs that would fit you need to specify. Have you hooked up a vacuum gauge? In the dark open the hood and have some one start it up while you look for dancing fire from the spark plug wires. If you have a good heart you could just feel around with your hand!

Sorry, specify what exactly?
The carburettor is stock standard and I am not sure how to specify anything more specific about it??!
Every single 2F carburettor kit on ebay seems to fit it. I bought a new float last week.

There is nothing arcing on the ignition.

When asking for help model/market/year helps to specify what you are looking for.
Fouling plugs - too much fuel and not enough air. Bad fuel, spark weak or at the wrong time
Carb work isn't for everyone, parts can be tiny, passages can be small... sort of like working on pocket watches

Maybe you can find a correct free manual here

When you say "cleaned out the carb", did you take it completely apart and rebuild or just spray some carb cleaner in it?

I only opened the top and cleaned it out. It actually looked clean in the float bowl. I used compressed air to blow into the main jet ,the acceleration pump and all other visible (from the top) passages. I was careful not to loose the steel balls and tiny spring that lurks in there.

I am now convinced that I need to redo this and go further.
Where is this idle air jet located? In the side of the main barrel?

I am not unfamiliar with carburetor work, but rusty and on this one, I have not touched in 15 years and I never had any proper details for it.
It has been trouble free for a long time.

Fouled plugs and black smoke indicates a rich condition.
Yes, very rich, it runs like the choke has been pulled too far - but that is not the case.
Hence I asked where the bypass idle air jet is located since that is about the only obvious thing that can cause such a rich condition.
as I mentined, the float level is correct.

Buy a rebuild kit and get on youtube and look up Pinhead's videos on rebuilding the carb. I bought a kit from Mike's Carburetor Parts - https://www.carburetor-parts.com/

Good lord I write this once a week it seems like.

Measure vacuum, tell us the reading at idle when cold and hot.
What is your timing set at? ('Ok' isn't a setting)
I assume since you said petrol its a points 2F so have you confirmed each cylinder is firing, if you did - how?

I don't doubt that the carb likely needs rebuilding but first you should understand how carburetors work which is.....vacuum.

Don't waste everyone's time with vague questions: Use the free manual online and go through each tuneup check.

^^^^^THIS^^^^^^
Its been sitting for 15yrs?
I've not messed with Toyota carbs in decades, but have heard good thing about Pinheads video series on Land Cruiser carb rebuilds.

Hello folks,

Thanks for all the replies.
Just to clarify:
@mattressking Thank you for posting the manual details, I will study the diagrams therein. How do I download the manual? It seems just showing online here in your post.

It is firing on all cylinders. I have tested this by pulling each plug lead and listening and observing the rev counter on my timing light.

@pb4ugo I clearly stated that it has been sitting for 1 year NOT 15 years.

Best regards
Bernt

Here ya go:

Land Cruiser Factory Service Manuals (FSMs) - https://www.cruisercult.com/factory-service-manuals

Just scroll down to 60 series and you'll see the 2F manuals.

Have you got any "car" people friends local you can ask for help? Its a tractor not the space shuttle or a nuke submarine. Maybe a computer geek friend to help you download stuff and view it in a PDF reader could also be useful.

I do not need help, I have decades of mechanical experience.
This it not new to me, it is just too darn old to remember anything :-(

Ok, so why are you here asking for help - Don't you think you would get better results faster with someone that has eyes on the problem. Everyone and anyone can miss something that a new set of might catch. But I'm done here good luck.

Thank you for the help. I understand that it is not always obvious what level of competence a person may have when just posting here so I appreciate your input.
