Isn't this the supreme oil debate? Rotella 15w-40 vs Castrol 20W-50?
Yes. Much hashed out already.

Rotella 15-40 I add a bottle of Lucas zinc.

Valvoline 20-50 already has it. No need to add.

I have also been known to mix greases in a birfield though.

ADHD morning.

Added the bumper back. It was a tight fit with paint before but was a bear to get back in with all the fresh powder. I won. It’s fine. (Trail Tailor brand)

Went under to hook up the reverse lights on the transmission and discovered someone decided to tape in a bunch of random wires into the main harness.

I recommend against this. Anything you add could short out if you are dumb enough to do this so just zip tie your 10 gauge black wire to the outside. Maybe you won’t kill your harness

The heater box has some “eh” stuff going on so it’s getting dissected and a new core via City Racer. Powdered as well.

Then I started on cleaning and retaping the factory loom and identifying wires. So many things that are not used once these get modified. Toyota loom tape via @Onur is the cheese.

The Koito H4 light kit is truly the greatest value of anything ever available from Toyota but there is enough wire in the harness to go around the firewall versus the direct route across the grill. I trimmed 5’ out of it and used some cool wire loom clips @Onur sent me.

Lop them off and join them back up. Why would you need Toyota parts to reconnect 3 wires?

Moving along.

@Fourrunner HD cable kit with an extra ground from the starter to the frame not pictured.

Once I find a place for all the OEM wiring I’ll start plugging in some of the aftermarket goodies….

Just a different way to do things, depin the plug and shorten from there. To each their own.
I wasn’t questioning your work. Just a different way to do things, depin the plug and shorten from there. To each their own.

Blasting through piles of parts.

When I trailered this to my shop I dropped the windshield and saw the gasket was crusty and the defrost vents are faded white. Can’t have that (driver side vent uncleaned)

Polished out the black with some alcohol and then some Mothers Back to black.

I think I had forgotten about those wiper arms.

A while back I bought a replacement battery tray set up like the one here. I was really pissed when I couldn't get the wing nuts on and cursing the supplier. Now that I see the set up you have here it makes more sense and I can see I'm the dummy....Where can I get those rubber bumpers?

I think these are sway bar bushings. Nothing special

Man. Where did the day go? Spent the morning buying stuff for my shop that the exhaust wizard bitched I did not have, restocking supplies, getting coolant and some stainless bolts.

Got back and started organizing when I got notice a box from Mosley had dropped.

Fuel pump and fittings. After consulting with John who said do what I want, I opted for an in-line pump on this truck.

I’m happy with my in-tank pumps when they are in a wagon and I’m not sitting next to it but not in the 40s I’ve done. Therefore I went with in-line.

Found a good piece of real estate on the frame and drilled holes for M6 rivnuts and got this part done.
