This past weekend was an adventure. My Gf and I left Friday night at 8 Pm and drove 8 hrs to Tallahassee, we were exhausted so we decided to nap for a few hour, we woke up at at 6am and continued our Journey. We drove another 8 hr through Alabama and ended up in Decatur Mississippi. Upon arrival I was extremely happy with how solid the FJ was. It took us a few hours, but we finally got her loaded. I will be posting pictures and documenting the build.

My plan, I bought mystery oil, I’m going to pour some down each of the cylinders, pour some down the volve cover. I haven’t attempted on spinning the motor.

Once the motor spins, I’m going to remove everything. Radiator, clean and flush. Carb clean and rebuild, new water pump, new fuel pump, new distributor cap, points, rotor, spark plugs. Clean everything and attempt to fire her up.

I plan on leaving the original patina on the outside, they re only original once, and as solid as she is she deserves it! I’ll wet sand and buff to bring the shine out.

Thank you, yes. i look forward o the adventure. actually went on a shopping spree today. Bought everything needed to get her started and bought everything needed to do all the brakes. Bought some 235/75 All terrains. My plan is to unload her off the trailer this weekend.

Damn your GF drove like 32 hours and washed your new Project 40 you better hang onto her, my wife probably wouldn't drive with me to the end of the street if she knew I was going to buy another cruiser and she certainly wouldn't do anything but shake her head if I asked her for a hand .. although I do seem to remember 25 years ago she did help me bleed the brakes once.

Congrats on the 40 should be a fun build

Congrats and great find. Check out these threads regarding patina:

I was bidding against you on that jewel. I had @wngrog on the hook to help broker the deal if I won it. Glad it went to a mud member.

I talked to the guy who was housing it for the woman and he said that he believed one of the exhaust manifold bolts was broke and that is why it was parked all those years ago.

It's rare that I see a 40 on the streets of Miami. Hope I get to see yours. Nice find. Good luck with it.
