Friend found this in a Culdesac in McKinney thaw house had a 2 car garage with a one car attached. He had never seen the one car opened in ten plus years. One day he noticed it up, and spotted the front end of an FJ40. It took a couple of years, but he finally bought it. I took my trailer with winch and fetched it. It had been in this garage since 1999 with blown motor….24 years. I have had it here since, he was gathering parts. Last October he was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer. He’s doing well, but decided his priorities needed to be more on family etc. So I purchased the truck.

I got it out and pressure washed just about everything….. there’s not any rust… first time I ever pulled a fuel tank and found no rust under it!. My choice would have been clean it and leave it alone, but….. My friend had stripped everything you don’t see in the interior, sent everything off and had it restored. it would look crazy to mix like new components with old worn paint.

Check out the gas tank well, has 2 hole in front of the shifter??? I removed tons of bolts and only one broke in the trans tunnel amazed how they look new in the threads. Paint is cherry under dash pad. Check out the baby Swampers, 28x8.50x15!!! He bought this truck, put the TSL’s on, and put 2 teens in it driving 30 miles on Central ( HW 75 ) to school daily, 3 weeks later they chunked # 4 rod through the pan.

Wow! Mine was born a 72 FST in that same blue. When I got it had some PO mods like a 76 red hard top....

I got sick and mine sat for like 10+ years. Ended up buying another set of tires because my old almost brand new one were dry rotted. Lots of work to do yet, but I can and have driven it to town and the doc's all summer long.

I will be selling 5 of the nicest drum brake wheels I ever seen . 5 City Racer 16” split rims, 3 spd trans/trans case, both driveshafts. Good 72F head. Bestop top and bows
Was pulling it out and my tractor clutch quit pulling… so one more thing!!!

I love canvas tarps but I always put a 6 mil or better piece of plastic underneath and that's after I have silicon caulk treated the canvas to be way more water proof.

Believe or not, this tarp was on the truck for 3 years, figured it would be shot, It still is solid, I would rather have a breathable cover, rather than one that traps moisture.

What a score! Very impressive! If it were mine I would get the bits & pieces restored to as new, as you mentioned, and leave the paint as it is. It’s a perfect patina. I’ve seen that done on rat rods and I think it looks pretty cool.

Very cool Butch.😎 Do you think there's a chance of getting it back together and taking the PO for a drive in it before he passes?

Oh he's not gonna pass from his cancer soon, it;s in remission and he has a great outlook........he just chose to spend the near future on other things other than this truck......
