you know i have been wanting to post something on this thread for a long time, but i figured typing wow was not a good enough reason

the parts were dropped off at a ups shipper today for monday pickup for both of you guys. ups ground. i'll have tracking #s on monday

I think i can get treeroot replacements for those parts but not until the end of may at earliest. i am sure about the spring. not sure about the ds track.

The dynamat or whatever you are using in the doors is a great idea. What is your plan for carpet? SOR? Are you going to run the firewall insulation?

By the way, we ended up getting a sewing machine called the camper's tentmaker (yeah, funny name). It's a walking foot machine that is a good mix between heavy and lighter use that can do straight or zig-zag. You were definitely right about needing the welting foot, makes a big difference.

1 driver side front internal door window track/holders.

1 passenger door window crank spring.

1 interior door pull as in the handle you grab to shut the door? metal style/not the 67 plastic style?

Is the post office open Monday? Overnight or 3 day priority? :)

Yep, metal style, not plastic on the door pull.

3 day priority will work, I think I can find some other stuff to do until then ;) Not sure if the post office is open Monday or not?

Sure appreciate it Mike, keeps the project moving forward. Hopefully I will be able to replace the parts you sent me if Semlin is able to get those out of the woods lv later on.

I'm sure this won't be the last time I'm begging you for parts ;)

Thanks, Matt

I bought the carpet and sound deadening material when I bought the rest of the fabric for the seats. So I will be sewing up my own carpet for the lv. SOR's stuff doesn't match and they wouldn't do any other color than grey.

As far as the firewall insulation I may run the matting and carpet up the firewall, so it will be all in one. Not like the orginal or SOR's stuff, we'll see, not that far yet.

Glad you were able to find a sewing machine that will work for you, the welting foot is a must for upholstery. ;)

hey matt.
if you need any more door pieces, lemme know. i think i have a complete set of spares for my LV.
keep up the great work. and thanks again for making the rest of us look like shade-tree-mechanics!

Pretty good day on the lv today, had a few Easter things to take care off in the morning, but got going on it in the afternoon.

Got my tailgate back on and closing nicely. I will say I got my ass kicked getting the linkages adjusted and everything where it closed nicely. After a good couple hours it all works absolutely perfect. Also got the upper hatch adjusted and closing nice. I installed my rear tailgate handle for fun. It will have to come off again for paint, but I wanted to see it on there and how nice it worked. I'm hoping the one Semlin sent is nice, mine is cracked up.

Then I started on the door glass. All the window glass has been sitting in my shed for over a year. All the glass had overspray on them from previous PO's and paint. Took a few minutes and scrapped all the over spray off, wiped them down with reducer and then glass cleaner. I have all the door glass installed except for the front drivers side door............You got that part in the mail yet Mike ;) If I would have had that track, I would have all glass in.

In any event the glass that's in there goes up and down pretty good. It's farily tight, but I imagine it will take a while for that weatherstripping to break in.

Few pics from different angles for fun, everything pretty much fit up and working nicely. I'm hoping to work on the drip edge this week if that goes well, might start wet sanding next weekend??

Georg,

I might be taking you up on that. I'll wait until I get the stuff from Semlin, but I think I'm still going to be missing some interior door handles and a couple other things.

I will let you know for sure when it comes time, sure appreciate the offer

Thanks, Matt

Package is on it's way...................

Question,

How do you get these apart? I think that lever and shaft go through the glass?

Thanks, Matt

Matt,
Looks like a roll pin holds the lever on..is there a hole in the other side as shown in your picture? if so there is a small roll pin holding the assy together.

Also I just might see your 45 in person.

I do not believe shaft goes through the glass. It should be easy to tell and area is clean and a flash light against the glass.

I have had simular pieces taken apart at a glass shop. They beat the chrome rails off. They had a vise that help glass and tapped the out edge off.....made me cringe looking at then doing it. But it worked.

You having new glass cut?

Re-chrome those pieces???

I have ZERO experience on Toyotas', but there usually is a roll pin a spreviously mentioned. There should be a shaft, spring, and some kind os washer in there. Good luck!

Original rims on both my 66LV and 65LWB pup are black.

Nice work!

Bill at GBR said springs by the end of next week, maybe? depending on how they get thru customs...
If anyone needs me to go down there and slap him around a little bit let me know :)

EDIT never mind, didn't realize this was over a year ago! Neat thread I am about to get lost in for the next hour or two!

truly unreal Matt... I can't believe I missed this thread somehow in the year + it has been here. I spent probably 1/10th of the labor you did especially with the body work and I think I had a cruiser in roughly the same shape as you from the start.. ...genuinely rough..... And the end result is mine is terribly rusty after a couple years and yours is simply... ....astonishing. Truly unbelievable work, I have very very very much enjoyed getting lost in this thread for the last few hours. I even started on page one and like a good book I couldn't put it down! 100% truly and utterly remarkable. I can't wait to see the final paint, perfect timing.... :)

Best,
Andre

Posting last nights work this morning.....my home computer finally gave out last night, new dell on order, but probably going to be a couple weeks, so for now using my work computer.

Welded new studs into the headlamp buckets that Treeroot sent me, should work good.

Went to work on those vent windows, the roll pin did punch out and there is a shaft going through the window. Actually came apart rather easily? The rubber in the window frame was toast, have to talk to the glass guy about a replacement.

Had some bare spots on the drip rail where I welded and burnt primer off the last time I had the body off and upside down a couple months ago. I just brushed the spots, not to concerned on how great it looks since a good portion of the drip rail is going to be filled with self leveling seam sealer.

Also installed the 4wd emblem on the tailgate, has to come off for paint, but the holes are drilled. :)
