Now that the fenders and core support are in place, we can run the return line for the hydroboost unit.

Here’s the plan coming out of the unit:

Then turn down the fender, run under the fan shroud and up into the reservoir:

We’re refreshing the air cleaner with new 80 series rubber seals:

The original leather top gasket is in good shape other than a small gap from shrinkage, so we glued it back in too. We’ll artfully fill the gap with RTV.

Looking inside the air cleaner triggered my PTSD from welding on it. It’s so thin that even the lowest setting on the welder tried to blow through some areas. There was also a giant cut off wheel gash from the air cleaner’s earlier adventures that had to be repaired.

The photos above were selectively framed to hide the boogers. If you move the camera:

Is the wiring in the truck? Holy hell that fender is clean

No, but other than battery cable-sized wires running along the frame between the winch & battery, there’s not going to be a ton of wiring visible in the engine bay.

Not having the exhaust in the driver side like a 2F opens up a lot of places to hide sh!t under the manifold.

For example, remember the coil & igniter I thought would work great on the fender? I completely overlooked the fact that the air cleaner sits right there. New perfect spot? Mounted to the underside of the intake manifold, which is even better at hiding the wiring.

The Sniper wiring can even turn down through the intake manifold:

We can run everything out of sight in the engine bay and then cleanly under the truck to pop up into the toolbox where we will put all of the electrical management, keeping everything 100% out of sight.

The factory wiring under the hood is going to look out of place now!

We finally found a clean solution for capping off the vent line in the fuel pump module. Typical rubber vacuum caps degrade in short order from the gasoline fumes. A piece of fuel hose with a bolt clamped in works great, but aren’t the prettiest solution.

Enter these Buna-N vacuum caps. Buna-N has excellent petroleum fuel/oil resistance, so these should hold up to the fumes.

Perfect. Thanks for this. Was trying to figure out a clean way to cap that port.

Also for your fuel lines did you go Stainless or Aluminum?

These are aluminum. Easy to work with, easy to flair. Easy to toss a piece in the trash and start over when needed.

Steel is less forgiving, stainless even more. Maybe one day!

Do tell. Are the seals interchangeable between and 80 and a 40-series air cleaner?

So far it seems so!

Like with the coil placement, we’re constantly playing the domino game of cause & effect and finding conflicts in the design.

This is just a part of the process. It’s a game of chicken & egg and takes a few trips around the truck to find the final version & placement of everything.

Now that we’ve got all the weight in the truck, we do a final clearance test of the hardline running under the truck using the forklift.

It’s super close. We were counting on the shackle swinging the axle forward to make everything clear as the axle stuffs in not the wheel well. It actually looks a little sketchy at ride height from certain angle, but we can almost smash the bumpstop without touching anything.

We’ll make a few adjustments, trim a little here, a tasteful kink in the sexy hardline over there, and we’ll be able to jump this over the Florida dunes.

We’re very close to getting into the wiring. We keep saying it’s next, but it will get its turn very soon!

Parting shots until the next update…

I see this thing hundreds of times every day and I still get a boner every time.

Sorry, I am a state inspector so I look for stuff like that...

I’ve been meaning to get some nylock in that pitch. Some of these big Dobinsons don’t like to squeeze that small for a pin without leaving off a washer on the back side.

As the PR wing of Mosley Motors, if you have a way to make the playback 2x speed it will sound normal.

Brief update from behind the scenes. We’ve been trucking along with wiring. We’ve got new wires tuning from one end of the truck to the other and every point between:
