Holy flashbacks Brian. @DHONDAGOD built a tank for that for his rockcrawler twenty years ago!

Once of the cool extra little features Chris did was to create a trough in the middle of the underside that was about six inches wide and two inches deep. He put the pickup for his fuel pump in so that it sat in the trough. It greatly improved the odds that however Off camber the climb was, his fuel system would never starve in the middle of a technical ascent. 😉

Ha. I did the same thing. I guess good design is good design. I also created a "one way" baffle sump so that the sump always has fuel trapped in it for the off camber issues.
 
Spare Tire Carrier New
Final fitment of Spare Tire Carrier. I set it high to give the bumper and brake lights some visibility and breathing room. I am probably going with a WolfBox rear view camera like a have in my Grenadier, so the Spare Tire siting high will not be an issue,

Brian, if I’m understanding this picture right, you can’t take the hardtop off without losing the tire carrier?

That is correct. The two halves will be permanently welded together (top to bottom) while saving the body line between the. This will be a true hard top when complete. Even the cap will be permanently fixed. Only parts that will move are the doors and the hood. Cowl, fenders, rest of the body will be one piece.

Interesting!

Given the fact that the weight of the doors, windshield, dash, cowl and firewall all float ahead of the foreward-most body mount, that's a lot of stress on the rocker panel under the A pillar. I have cracked the rockers on both my 64 and 68 from it.

I think a couple of well-placed body mounts directly under the firewall would be a good long term investment for your unibody intention.😉

Agreed, and thanks for the heads up. We were thinking A Pilar, b Pilar, firewall and back corners for reinforcing. Also the front fenders.
