I didn't mention your tops figuring you would post. Have to do something to draw you every once in a while.

None of which will fit that 1962 tub.

Won't fit without some work but it can be done. Here is a link with a lot of info. https://forum.ih8mud.com/fj25-owners-group/45428-fj25-early-fj40-soft-top-project.html Plus a couple of pictures of a top made to fit later FJ40 factory bows setting on a FJ25. Add in what Jim has done plus some making hard tops work. Not easy but also not mission impossilbe to get a cover to keep the weather out.

Does it still have the rear centered axles. If that drive shaft is long enough you would likely have to drill out the flange holes. pre mid 69 would have 8mm holes, where your 73 drive shaft would have 10mm holes. I drilled mine out to 10mm as the PO had 71 engine, trans and drive shafts. He had 8mm holds going through the 10mm holes, so I do not think it was ever driven after the engine swap, but a guess, the guy I bought it from never did anything to it other then store it.

Would you believe I was under the 40 all afternoon and it didn't even occur to me that rear diff was centered, but I'm sure your right.

Did you drill out the flange holes with diff still on the truck, or did you remove it?

I tried this on my 81 and i was breaking drill bits like pretzels. I guess I should use some cutting oil.

I did it on the truck, but that only proved how dumb I am. Take an impact wrench and just take off the pinion flange, one big nut, 10 seconds with an impact and slide the flange off. Just one of those things you look back on and say, what was I thinking, or not thinking.

I did not brake a single bit, I kept spraying a little with PB blaster to lube a little but to mostly keep the drill bit from over heating. But was a pain to do while under the truck.
