i recently installed a HEI distributor on my 2F and all runs well. revs great and feels like i could pull the world and moon behind it until i hit about 2600 rpm in 4th gear. about then any grade in the road or a fly farting on my windshield causes the engine to crap out. i have checked...
busted a tire off a 67 gladiator. fell a tree, and used bailing wire to attach it to the bottom of the axle as a ski. made it back to the shop. (we were on private property)
well i pulled a harness out of a 78 pickup with the intention of using it to build a new one for my 76 fj 40. well it looks like more trouble than its worth but i did get all the electrical connectors i needed including the ones that go on the back of the instriment pannel and in the back of...
a replacement would be the best. there are fiberglass tops out there somewhere. if you know how to weld and can replace it yourself coat it in something. white tinted bedliner maybe. i have had great luck with a product called "ZERO RUST" and it comes in a rainbow of colors.
i had a weber 34/34 and ended up haveing the asian carb completly redone. new bushings around the butterfly valve shafts fixed the majority of the origonal problem i had with it(cost me 200 or so). my weber carb sits in the corner and i beet on it with a hammer when things dont go well for me...

1. does anyone have a blueprint for one they built?
2. are there any problems i might run into.
3. what sort of material did you use. (im thinking 2.5"x1/8 wall mild steel)
last time i did my wheel bearings they cost 25$ a side at autozone and today at carquest they cost 65$ a side. how much do you pay for your wheel bearings and do spendy ones last longer?
normaly you can just peel it out without destroying the paint. if its seam sealer then its a bit tougher, i had luck with a putty knife and hook razor. be careful and good luck.
i am about to start driveing my 40 again. i have completly redone everything on the rig other that the axles. they sat for a year but seem to work fine now. i have checked gears and replaced fluids is there anything else i should do before makeing it my DD again?
