I know the 8 is a fine towing transmission. And I’m sure somewhere in the 1300 plus posts in this thread, others will say the 6 is fine too. I’d base your decision on other things. Since the youngest 6 speeds are going to be at least 8 years old, vehicle history, care, and condition are more important. Since towing is important, might be worth reading this entire thread. I noticed that the transmission changes in 2016 to an eight-speed and the final gear ratio also changes from 3.9:1 to 3.3:1. Does anyone have experience with this that can comment on whether or not the 2016+ changes to the drivetrain are better or worse for towing?
