Needle scaler, wire brush on the die grinder, red scotch bright pads, lots of paint prep wax/grease remover and a bunch of good ole elbow grease.

Three coats high temp engine enamel on it now.

i've been frequenting the boards for a couple of decades now but never had an 80 series so I can't say I've popped in here too much.

Since i just bought my first 80 this last week I've been visiting daily to learn about my new rig. I found it interesting that the "What have you done with your 80 this week" thread has a couple thousand more pages than the same types of threads in other series. Does that mean I'm going to use my 80 much more than my other cruisers?

After purchasing my 80 with 99k miles this weekend I drove it 975 miles home. It ran great without any problems. In the process I flipped the odo over 100k, which was a bummer but had to be done.

Got my steering box back from Red Head Steering Gears. Recommended by @NLXTACY and glad I did it. Got the upgraded 105 sector shaft as well.

No idea. The wheels an older nardi. I haven't looked at removing it because I don't have a replacement.

I swapped out shifters on my lc
I bought one off a newer 80 series so it had an od button and the shift pattern was wrong. Mine had a chrome handle and the new one was black. So I tore both apart and used parts from one and parts from another. The new handle isn't perfect but it's better. I might send the old one out to be recovered.
